Legion goes 2-3 in Don Cross Tournament

CAMBRIDGE – After splitting two games on Saturday, Findlay's bid to advance to the finals of the 32nd annual Don Cross Classic ended on Sunday with a 4-2 loss to the host Cambridge/Belle Valley Legion team. Cambridge, which would go on to win the tournament title, rallied late to beat Findlay, with Tyler Harrell delivering a two-run single in the sixth inning and Jake Valentino adding a two-run single in the seventh. On Saturday, Marietta rode a strong pitching effort from Jacob Sealey in beating Findlay 4-2 in the early contest. Post 3 bounced back in the second game to knock off Parkersburg, W.Va., 8-1. Findlay outhit Parkersburg just 8-5, but took good advantage of a few walks and a couple of costly errors to stage four-run rallies in the fourth and seventh innings. Grady Mason and James Patton had two hits and knocked in a run each, Ben Best doubled in a run and Jarrett Haan and Colton Bradford added RBI singles. Landon Snow chalked up the win on the mound, allowing one run on five hits and striking out four in a complete-game performance. In Saturday's opener, Sealey allowed just four hits and took a shutout into the seventh inning before Findlay scratched out two unearned runs. Sealey, Drew Warden and Carson Gandee all had a single and a double for Marietta.
