VOLLEYBALL PEMBERVILLE – Liberty-Benton won two out of the first three games Thursday, but Eastwood had an answer, knocking off the Eagles in five, 24-26, 25-21, 13-25, 25-13, 15-10. Corra Dehart lined 21 kills for L-B, while Lindsay May registered 12. Maddie Amstutz added 11 kills and 22 digs, while Emily Eyink registered seven kills and two blocks. Alyssa Roberts recorded 29 digs for the Eagles, while Josie Todd dished out 43 assists. L-B moved to 1-1. GIRLS GOLF FREMONT – Aubrey Cline put up an 85 at Sycamore Hills, placing third in the individual standings, and leading Hopewell-Loudon to a fourth-place finish at the Lady Streaks Invitational. The Chieftains finished fourth out of 11 teams, scoring a 393. Tiffin Calvert won the event with a 378 team score, and had the medalist, Alyssa Rishty, who fired a 78. The Senecas edged Bellevue (379) by a stroke for the team title. Host Fremont St. Joe was third with a 390. Carey shot a 424 for eighth place. Adisyn Kramer's 91 was the Blue Devils' top score. CROSS COUNTRY NORTH BALTIMORE – Carter Fry ran the course in 17:48, won the boys race Thursday at North Baltimore, and helped Van Buren to a win at a meet that also included Elmwood and the host Tigers. The Black Knights' Andrew Puperi ran second in 18:06, and the team scored 23 points, while the Royals had 36 and North Baltimore 73. Elmwood's Dylan Armentrout ran third (18:16), while North Baltimore's Daniel Hinkle was 10th (21:02) On the girls side, Elmwood had the second, third and fourth finisher, and topped the team standings with 25. Van Buren – who had the first-place finisher in Lily Grady – had 40 points. North Baltimore had 64. Grady won in 21:08, topping the Royals' Alaynce Beasley (21:23), Laura Tanner (21:55) and Janessa Childress (22:52). North Baltimore's Ady Reynolds took fifth in 22:58.
