L-BENTON 35O-GLANDORF 6OTTAWA– Liberty-Benton sibling duo Seth and Zach Elchert each wound up with two touchdowns as Liberty-Benton walloped Ottawa-Glandorf 35-6. Seth Elchert had 106 yards with just 5 catches to lead the Eagles. Zach Elchert ended with 13 carries for 42 yards. Under center, L-B's Trevin Lieb completed 14 of his 18 passes for 244 yards. Brayden Lemire added 4 catches for 53 yards.O-G's Peyton Kuhlman threw for 116 yards, and connected on 9 of his 16 attempts. Cavinee ran for 165 yards and 14 carries, caught two passes for 76 yards, and notched 5 touchdowns. One of Cavinee's scores was a 14-yard pick-six late in the first quarter. Red Devil quarterback Trent Heacock was 5-of-6 for 200 yards, while also rushing for 29. For Hardin Northern, senior duo Xander Wilson and Nolan Hopson were the main cogs in the Polar Bear offense. Wilson had 22 carries for 179 yards, while Hopson tallied 151 yards on 22 carries as well. Elmwood looks to week two, and a matchup with old rival Eastwood on the road. RIVERDALE 13BUCYRUS 6BUCYRUS– After a scoreless first half which saw Riverdale get close to a score several times, the Falcons finally broke free in the second half to defeat Bucyrus 13-6. The Falcons' Kydin Reed ran it right up the middle for a 3-yard touchdown with just under 7 minutes left in the third. Loukas Carter drove in a 1-yard rushing score at the 3:58 mark of the fourth to retake the lead after an earlier Bucyrus score to even things up. The Falcons defense came up big with a pass breakup on 4th and 9 to hold on for the win. Riverdale hosts the Arlington Red Devils next week in a BVC matchup. NORTHMOR 48U. SANDUSKY 14GALION– After being up 41-0 at the half, Northmor held on to defeat Upper Sandusky 48-14. Nate Lewis scored on a 3-yard run to get the Rams on the board in the third quarter. Lewis also drove in a 10-yard run for the Rams to get them to 14. The Rams, now 0-1, look toward a week-two home matchup against Mt. Gilead next week. ADA 15USV 14MCGUFFEY– Ada scored on a late touchdown to narrowly defeat Upper Scioto Valley 15-14. After no score in the first quarter, the Rams scored and then converted a two-point try to snag an 8-0 lead. USV took that lead into the half, but Ada quarterback Levi Green broke out for a 64-yard touchdown to open the second period, and the Bulldogs also got their two-point conversion to go, tying things at 8 apiece. USV's score in the third gave it a 14-8 lead, but the Bulldogs scored a late TD to start 2024 with a winning record. Ada hosts Buckeye Central on Friday at 7 p.m. VAN BUREN 38 FOSTORIA 0 FOSTORIA – Van Buren held Fostoria to negative five yards of total offense, and routed the Redmen, 38-0. Mason Thorla-Lopez and Will Rampe each had interceptions for the Black Knights, while Lucas Harrington had nine tackles, three for a loss, and Brooks Hill had eight tackles, three for a loss. Grady Mason ran for two touchdowns and threw for another, completing a TD pass to Josiah Chapin. Brady Lance and Haiden Orr also had touchdown runs for the Black Knights, who avenged a close loss to Fostoria from last season, "It feels good, especially after last year, losing to them late in the game like that," VB coach Ethan Percer said. "It's nice to get that win." Rampe caught three passes for 69 yards. MCCOMB 20KIPP 14McCOMB -- Brayden Heller's seven-yard touchdown run in the third quarter restored McComb's lead to seven points, and the Panthers held on for a 20-13 win over Columbus Kipp. Brayden Shoop ran for a pair of first half touchdowns, staking McComb to a 14-0 lead. But Columbus KIPP rallied with two scores of its own, trimming the Panther lead to 14-13 when Kevin Hill ran for a 43-yard touchdown in the third quarter, which was followed by a missed PAT. Shoop was a workhorse for the Panthers, carrying the ball 27 times and finishing with 91 yards on the ground. McComb quarterback Grady Schroeder completed 4 of 7 passes for 81 yards. The Panthers will travel to Convoy Crestview next Friday for another conference game.
