Wyandot County Fair continues

UPPER SANDUSKY — "Blue Jeans and Country Dreams" is the theme of the 173rd annual Wyandot County Fair that continues through noon on Sunday. A county high school music show, rodeo and demolition derby will be some of the highlights of the event that takes place at the Wyandot County Fairgrounds, 10171 Ohio 53 N, Upper Sandusky. A concert by Strong Buck Hill is slated for Saturday night. Single-day general admission tickets cost $8, while children 7 and younger will be admitted free. The fair will honor all veterans today, with free admission for any veteran showing proof of service. A veterans' luncheon will be served in the Master's Building. Pari-mutuel harness racing begins at 5 p.m. in the grandstand. The Wyandot County high school music show starts at 7 p.m. Senior admission on Wednesday is $3 for individuals ages 62 and older. Senior activities will be held in the Master's Building. Six hours of gospel music will be offered from 1-7 p.m. A second program of harness racing starts at 5 p.m., followed by the calf scramble at 6:30. A Bulls & Barrels rodeo will highlight Thursday's activities at the fair. The cost, after gate admission is paid, is $10. Friday's activities include the National Kiddie Tractor Pullers Association contest in the main arena at 4 p.m. Fun with Farm Bureau begins at 6 p.m. and includes nail pounding, sack races, sheep herding, bale toss, bubble gum blowing, cross cut saw contests and more. All ages are welcome. A demolition derby program will be held in the grandstands at 7 p.m. The cost is $10 for grandstand seating or $15 for pit admission, after entry to the fair. Highlights on Saturday include the Junior Fair livestock sale beginning at 9 a.m., and a tractor pull in the grandstands at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $10 for grandstands admission, or $15 to be in the pit. A carry-in culinary contest starts at 1 p.m., featuring classes for all ages. Strong Buck Hill will perform from 9 p.m. to midnight on the north stage. Members of the three-piece acoustic cover band are from Wyandot County. On Sunday, Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in the Master's Building. The fair officially closes at noon.
