State-ranked Leipsic rolls to BVC win

LEIPSIC &emsp;&emsp;3 ARCADIA &emsp;&emsp;0 LEIPSIC – Danaysia Danzy pounded 20 kills, Jazelle Perez had eight and Morgan Apple (5 digs) and Jadyn Cupp (4 aces) added five each as No. 2-ranked Leipsic pushed its unbeaten record to 10-0 and improved to 3-0 in the Blanchard Valley Conference with Wednesday's 25-6, 25-9, 25-10 win over Arcadia. Jaelynn Siefer had 11 digs and Danzy had seven digs and six aces for the Vikings, ranked No. 2 in the Division VII state polls. Karmyn Brough led Leipsic with 34 assists. Ryleigh Boes (13-17 spiking) had three kills and Ellie Moes had two for Arcadia (2-8, 1-2 BVC). Ivy Smith was 26-of-29 setting with three assists and two digs and Elyse Boes was 15-of-17 setting and 6-for-6 serving. Alexis Carter led the Redskins with eight digs. VAN BUREN 3 RIVERDALE 0 MOUNT BLANCHARD – Van Buren got strong play at the net from Selma Brant (16 kills) and Brooklyn Wilkin (14 kills, 3 blocks) in posting a 25-20, 25-22, 25-18 BVC volleyball win over Riverdale. Bailey Lance (2 aces) had 11 digs and Megan Stall, Lydia Ponn (2 kills, 2 blocks, 15 assist) and Lily Grine had four digs each. Paige Ryan had eight assists and three aces in helping the Black Knights, 8-2 overall, improve to 2-1 in the BVC. Shayla Newfer had nine kills and four solo blocks and Dylann Thacker had seven total blocks for Riverdale (4-8, 0-3 BVC). Carly Karcher had seven kills, Addie Farmer had 51 sets and 18 assists, and Regan Boutwell had four digs. P-GILBOA &emsp;&emsp;3 ARLINGTON 0 ARLINGTON – Pandora-Gilboa continued its current hot streak on Wednesday, posting its fifth straight win with a 25-10, 25-12, 25-10 BVC volleyball win at Arlington. Corrin Luginbill led P-G (6-2, 2-1 B VC) with 15 kills and Nevaeha Alvarado added eight. Ava Huffman came up with 21 digs with Peyton Diller and Luci Hovest adding nine each. Peyton Diller also had a team-high 32 assists for the Rockets, ranked 17th in the Division VII state polls. Mea Alexander had 10 assists and Alyssa Launder had five kills and two aces for Arlington, which had a three-match win streak halted and dropped to 9-3 overall, 2-1 in the BVC. MCCOMB &emsp;&emsp;3 ADA &emsp;&emsp;0 MCCOMB – McComb's Kacey Like was 19-of-19 serving with three aces, 12 kills and 18 digs in powering McComb to a 25-15, 25-10, 25-20 BVC win over Ada. Peyton Stateler added nine kills, Morgan Kern (6 digs) had six and Addie Krassow (4 digs)) had four. Kelsey Jenkins led the Panthers (5-4, 1-2 BVC) with 11 digs. ELMWOOD &emsp;&emsp;3 VANLUE &emsp;&emsp;0 BLOOMDALE – Elmwood chalked up its first BVC volleyball win with a 25-13, 26-16, 25-22 win over Vanlue. Vanlue's Adrienne Phillips was 9-of-10 spiking with three kills and 20-for-20 setting with three assists and five digs. Olivia Secord and Madison Brooks added two kills each. Secord also led the Wildcats (5-3, 0-2 BVC) with 15 digs, Candace Saltzman (13-13 serving, 3 aces) had 10, Phoenix Heuerman had five and Alison Brooks and Lani Price both had four. GROVE 0 COLUMBUS GROVE – Miller City got 22 kills from Morgan Verhoff and 28 assists, seven digs and three ace serves from Payton Michel in a 25-23, 25-17, 25-22 win over Columbus Grove in Putnam County League volleyball action. Kylee Longworth (2 blocks) and Aubrey Schroeder (3 blocks) led Columbus Grove with 10 kills each and Kendal Palte (4 blocks) had six. GIRLS SOCCER NORTHVIEW 3 FINDLAY &emsp;&emsp;0 FINDLAY – Sylvania Northview got more than enough offense and played shutout defense on Wednesday in chalking up a 3-0 win over Findlay in a Northern Lakes League girls soccer match at Elmer Graham Stadium. Northview ended a three-match skid and improved to 4-3-0 overall, 3-2-0 in NLL games. Findlay fell to 2-5-0, 2-3-0 in the NLL. The Trojans are slated to host Lexington in another home match on Saturday. L-BENTON &emsp;&emsp;4 U. SANDUSKY 1 UPPER SANDUSKY – Hope Woods had a goal and an assist in rallying Liberty-Benton from a 1-0 deficit to a 4-1 girls soccer win over Upper Sandusky. Shiloh Shasteen put Upper Sandusky up 1-0 five minutes into the match on an assist from Grace Walton. But L-B, which had a 10-5 advantage in shots on goal, took over from there. The Eagles tied it 1-1 at the half, and used second-half goals by Woods, Layla Tiell and Ally Ferris to pull away. Eva Padron had an assist and Rylie Grant made two saves in goal for Liberty-Benton (5-3-0). Ellee Ham had six saves for Upper Sandusky (3-5-0). VAN BUREN 3 C-RAWSON 0 VAN BUREN – Van Buren's defense did not allow Cory-Rawson a single shot on goal when the Black Knights blanked the Hornets 3-0 on Wednesday. Lacey Bowman, Kami Bowman and Lauren Dahms scored goals and Hanneh Deiter and Macey Wagner had assists for Van Buren, which climbed to 5-4-0 with its third straight win. Cory-Rawson dropped to 3-4-0. TENNIS FINDLAY &emsp;&emsp;4 SHAWNEE &emsp;&emsp;1 FINDLAY – Findlay's Abigail Russel won a marathon match at No. 2 singles to highlight the Trojans 4-1 girls tennis win over Lima Shawnee on Wednesday. Russell dropped a first set tie-breaker 7-6 (7-2) but rebounded to beat Shawnee's Alivia Mack 6-3, 10-7. Rosalynn Mayle beat Shawnee's Riyia Naroor 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3 singles, and Findlay sept the doubles matches with Reese Hagedorn and Willow Wetzel (No. 1) beating Braylinn Murphy and Briley Ryan 6-4, 6-3 and Audrey Schroeder and Lauren Taber (No. 2) scoring a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Norah Mulder and Leah Fuller.
