Liberty-Benton hands VB first loss, clinches share of NCOSA

BOYS SOCCER VAN BUREN – Aiden Hatch converted an assist from Garrett Nealis with 32:21 left in regulation to break a scoreless tie, and Liberty-Benton went on to hand previously unbeaten Van Buren a 2-0 defeat. About 10 minutes after Hatch's goal, L-B's Lincoln Holler converted a corner kick – from Nealis – to give the Eagles their second goal. The teams played a scoreless first half, with L-B's Ben Jenkins' making three of his five saves before the break. Van Buren has never scored on Jenkins. Van Buren's goalie, Tanner Bahn – who helped the Black Knights' golf team to a sectional title earlier in the day – made three saves by the break and finished with seven overall. It was the fourth consecutive time Liberty-Benton has held Van Buren scoreless. Liberty-Benton improved to 10-1, and clinched a share of the NCOSA with the win. Van Buren slipped to 11-1. BLUFFTON 1 O-G 0 GLANDORF – Jackson Brauen delivered a goal in the 64th minute as Bluffton blanked Ottawa-Glandorf 1-0. The Pirates outshot the Titans 13-9 (5-3 in shots on goal) in improving to 7-6. Ottawa-Glandorf dropped to 5-7-1. Bluffton goalkeeper Emmitt Kidd made three saves in goal. JV: 1-1 tie. GIRLS SOCCER BLUFFTON 5 DEL. JEFFERSON 0 BLUFFTON – Blair Utendorf and Mya McDoogle each scored a pair of goals, and Bluffton blanked Delphos Jefferson, 5-0. Aubrey Burkolder assisted on four of the Pirates' goals. Audra Snyder scored Bluffton's other goal. The Pirates outshot Delphos Jefferson 31-4. The Pirates' Ryleigh Rex made a pair of saves, while teammate Kynzie Ewing made 1. Delphos Jefferson goalkeeper Sydney Bayman made 13 saves in goal. CONTINENTAL 1 COL. GROVE 1 CONTINENTAL – Lauren Auchmuty scored an unassisted goal 20:10 into the first half, and Columbus Grove carried a 1-0 lead over Continental into the second half. But Makenzie Shock converted a penalty kick with 34:13 left in regulation, and the game finished a 1-1 tie. Columbus Grove had 11 corner kicks, while Continental only had 1. Grove also outshot Continental 25-11. The Pirates' goalkeeper, Mackenzie Niese made 11 saves, while the Bulldogs' goalie, Erianne Heffner, made 8. MANS. CHRISTIAN 2 U. SANDUSKY 1 MANSFIELD – Grace Rader scored off a penalty kick with a minute remaining in the first half, amd Erin Hope added an unassisted goal early in the second half to edge Upper Sandusky, 2-1. Grace Walton got the Rams on the board by converting a Shiloh Shasteen assist with 10 minutes remaining in regulation. Ellee Ham made 10 saves in goal for Upper Sandusky. Her counterpart, Mansfield Christian's Haven Granterm made one save. The Flames outshot the Rams 19-3. FINDLAY 8 WHITMER 0 TOLEDO – Greta Zaciewski and Eve Hansen each scored a pair of goals, and Findlay overmatched Whitmer Wednesday, 8-0. Ellie Beining, Leah Couch, Olivia Gayhart and Ryleigh O'Dell each scored a goal for the Trojans, while Couch and Gayhart also each had an assist. Daryna Yurchenko, Noah Tesner, Ray Capp, Yasmin Teixeira and Ella Kreyger also had an assist each. Anabelle Cooper had eight intercepts for Findlay and Neeti Barot made two steals.
