Vote yes for opportunities at FCS I strongly support the proposed 1% earned income tax levy for Findlay City Schools. An earned income tax is a fair and effective way to fund our schools. It primarily affects those who are actively working, meaning it does not place an additional burden on retirees, individuals on fixed incomes, or those who are unemployed. I am not just an employee of the district. I am a resident of Findlay and a parent of three children attending FCS. I come from a small town about an hour away. I graduated with around 40 students and always said that I would never send my own children to a large school. I then came to Findlay City Schools and quickly realized I needed to be corrected. Now, I would never send my children anywhere BUT to Findlay City Schools. The opportunities that my children have here are unmatched. When my son was in 4th grade, he participated in a full production of "Annie Kids, The Musical," through his school in 4th grade! My 7th-grader plays the trumpet and viola, runs cross country and is challenged academically through advanced courses. There are also many other opportunities he does not take advantage of because, like many of you, we do not have the time. My kindergartner is making new friends from all over the world (literally) and is thriving at school. I love this community and I love everything that Findlay City Schools is able to offer my children and the children that come through the doors at Bigelow Hill. Findlay City Schools has not had new operating funds in about 20 years. Without these new funds, the district will be forced to make cuts that will drastically reduce the quality of what is able to be offered. Not because they want to, but because it will be required. Let's work together to make sure that does not happen. Let's work together to make sure that FCS is able to continue to offer excellence for our students, families and community.
