Reineke wins Ohio Senate re-election bid

COLUMBUS — Incumbent Senator Bill Reineke easily won reelection Tuesday against opponent Mohamud Jama to represent Ohio's 26th district, receiving 75% of the vote, according to unofficial results. Reineke first was elected to the Ohio Senate in 2020, with a platform of fighting for rural America and addressing the issues impacting the 26th district. While in office, Reineke has been the primary sponsor of Senate Bill 52 and Senate Bill 119, and a co-sponsor of Senate Bill 1, which address wind/solar and landfill regulations and education and workforce development in the state. Reineke said he will continue to focus on those issues that impact his district, continuing his current efforts and addressing the tax burden on his constituents, community mental health issues, and the addiction problems plaguing the state. Reineke said he is "very excited to continue to represent the 26th district," and is very happy with the support he has received. Reineke's challenger, Mohamud Jama, said he is happy the election has come to an end, and wishes Senator Reineke luck in his new term. "It is democracy and we compete and Reineke is the winner," Jama said. The 26th district covers Seneca, Wyandot, Sandusky, Crawford, Marion, Union, and Morrow counties.
