Children's Mentoring Connection celebrates 50 years

FINDLAY — In a heartfelt celebration of its 50th anniversary, Children's Mentoring Connection of Hancock County hosted its annual Uncorked and Unplugged Gala on Nov. 2 at the Hancock Hotel. The evening was a testament to the lasting impact CMC has made in the community, fostering meaningful relationships between mentors and young people since its founding in 1974 as Big Brothers, a release from the group states. CMC presented Bob Beutler, a founding board member, mentor and instrumental figure in the organization's creation, with the Lifetime Achievement Award. "Beutler's vision of connecting youth with caring mentors laid the foundation for the organization's profound success and continued growth," the release states. His own mentorship journey began with Darryl Menerey, CMC's third Big Brother match of the agency, a bond that has flourished for decades. "Bob's dedication and vision have left an indelible mark on CMC and our community," said Stacy Shaw, executive director of CMC. "His work has not only shaped the path of countless children, but also created a ripple effect of kindness and positive influence throughout Hancock County." Since its inception, CMC has expanded its reach, supporting both community-based and school-based mentoring programs for youth ages 6-14. The organization thrives on its mission of "positively impacting lives one meaningful connection at a time," the release states. The event raised funds to further support CMC's ongoing programs and initiatives. CMC continues to seek dedicated volunteers to join its mission and make a lasting difference in the lives of local youth. They are hosting a MENtor Night to recruit more male mentors from 5-6:30 p.m. Nov. 21.
