FHS' Ragland and Wilkin rate 1st-team NLL in football, Buddelmeyer in volleyball

ALL-NLL FOOTBALLFindlay High seniors Jacob Ragland and Baylor Wilkin were first team selections when Northern Lakes League coaches voted on their all-Buckeye Division football teams for the 2024 season.A 5-foot-10, 170-pound receiver, Ragland caught 67 passes for 1,137 yards and 11 touchdowns. Elusive and fast, Ragland scored six of his 11 touchdowns on catch-and-run plays of 40 yards or longer.Wilkin was first-team all-NLL at offensive tackle. The 6-5, 275-pound senior has made a verbal commitment to attend Indiana University.Junior guard Brody Smith was a second-team selection on the offensive line. Ashton Yeager (22 tackles, 3 tackles for loss) as an interior lineman, outside linebacker Campbell Layne (73 tackles, 12 tfl) and safety Israel Moore (35 tackles, 2 ints.) were second-team picks son defense. ALL-NLL VOLLEYBALL Before taking her game to Bowling Green State University, Findlay High's Ava Buddelmeyer picked up a few more accolades by being named to the first team of the Northern Lakes League all-Buckeye Division selections for the 2024 season.A 6-foot outside hitter, Buddelmeyer set an FHS record with 29 kills in a single match, pounded 339 kills for the season, and surpassed 1,000 kills for her career. She also had 22 blocks and 246 digs.Caroline Kiffmeyer was a second-team all-NLL pick for the Trojans. The senior defensive specialist had 262 digs and was 180-for-204 serving with a team-leading 31 aces. ALL-N10 VOLLEYBALLCarey's senior twins Parker and Peyton Vackert were both first-team selections in the 2024 Northern 10 Conference all-league volleyball selections.Parker Vackert had 359 kills, 50 blocks and 242 digs for the Blue Devils. Peyton Vackert was 1,617 of 1,637 setting with 611 assists, 77 aces and 128 digs.Riley Stoops (123 kills, 242 digs) was a second-team all-N10 pick for Carey, which went 17-6 overall and placed third (10-4) in the league standings. Upper Sandusky's Addy Newman (292 digs, 446 assist) was second-team for the Rams (10-13, 6-8 N10).HONORABLE MENTIONCAREY – Abbi Seager. UPPER SANDUSKY – Kaitlin Bennett. ALL-PCL GIRLS SOCCER Columbus Grove's Lauryn Auchmuty, who scored 48 goals in leading the Bulldogs to the Division V state semifinals, has been tabbed the Putnam County League girls soccer player of the year.Auchmuty also had 15 assists to amass 111 total points, tied for the 25th most in a single season according to OHSAA state records.Grove's Ruth Myers (14 goals, 11 assists) and Ella Dotson (10 goals, 6 assists) were also first-team all-PCL, while Devanie Pingle earned second-team honors.HONORABLE MENTIONCOLUMBUS GROVE – Allison Thompson, Jade Roeder, Alyssa Koch. ALL-PCL VOLLEYBALL Leipsic swept the top two awards in the all-Putnam County League volleyball selections for the 2024 season.Danaysia Danzy, a 5-foot-11 junior who had 453 kills, 23 blocks and 245 digs, was voted the PCL Player of the Year. Brent Newell, who guided the Vikings to an outright Blanchard Valley Conference title, a PCL co-championship, and a trip to the Division VII regional semifinals, shared coach of the year honors with Ottoville's Lexi Autzenheiser.Pandora-Gilboa's Corrin Luginbill (400 kills, 38 blocks) and Peyton Diller (2,207 of 2,216 setting, 835 assists, 286 digs) were also first team picks.Earning second-team all-PCL honors were Columbus Grove's Saige Benroth (420 digs) and Kylee Longworth (122 kills), Leipsic's Karmyn Brough (1,861 of 1,874 setting, 822 assists) and Morgan Apple (198 kills) and Pandora-Gilboa's Ava Huffman (498 digs).HONORABLE MENTIONCOLUMBUS GROVE – Aubrey Schroeder, Alyce Fortman.
