FAL hosting holiday market FINDLAY — Findlay Art League is hosting a holiday market now through Dec. 23 in the gallery. Unique gifts made by area artists will be available for perusal and purchase. The Gallery, 117 W. Crawford St., is open Tuesday through Friday from 12:30-5 p.m. and Saturdays from 12:30-4 p.m. The gallery will have extended hours until 8 p.m. on the following Fridays: Nov. 29, Dec. 6, Dec. 13 and Dec. 20. It will also be open for last-minute shopping on Monday, Dec. 23 from 12:30-6 p.m. Toledo Zoo CEO to speak at 'Fridays at Findlay' FINDLAY — The University of Findlay's "Fridays at Findlay" executive lecture series walks on the wild side Dec. 13 with a presentation by Jeff Sailer, president and CEO of the Toledo Zoo & Aquarium. His presentation, "Leadership in Challenging Times: Continuing to Make the Toledo Zoo a Premier Zoo," is open to the public and will take place in the Winebrenner Building, TLB Auditorium on the UF campus. Doors open at 7:30 a.m. for a breakfast buffet with the presentation from 7:50 to 9 a.m. The Toledo Zoo & Aquarium was voted the "Best Zoo in the Country" by USA Today. From polar bears to red pandas, baby elephants to electric eels, it is home to more than 16,000 animals representing 680 species. During Sailer's 12 years of leadership, the zoo has grown to welcome an average of 1 million guests each year, and several historic buildings have been renovated, including the aquarium, ProMedica Museum of Natural History and the Lodge. "Sailer has faced a variety of challenges and has persevered through them to make the Toledo Zoo a well-known place of international research and conservation as well as further its reputation as a popular destination place for family outings," a release from UF states. The Fridays at Findlay lecture series encourages continued educational opportunities for members of the community, the campus and alumni, the release states. Black Swamp Area Council holding 3rd Breakfast with Santa FINDLAY — The Black Swamp Area Council of Scouting America will host its 3rd annual Breakfast with Santa on Dec. 7 at Donnell Lodge at Camp Berry, 11716 County Road 40, Findlay. From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Donnell Lodge will be transformed into a Christmas wonderland where families can relax and celebrate the season together, a release from the Council states. An all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast buffet will be available, in addition to storytime, craft stations for making holiday-themed keepsakes and a visit with Santa and his friends from the North Pole. Each ticket purchase nets visitors free downloadable photos with Santa.
