Riverdale has big second half, topples Hornets

BOYS BASKETBALL RIVERDALE 61CORY-RAWSON 33RAWSON –Evan Reiter and Jack Dusseau each nearly had double-doubles, and Riverdale coach Al Thomas had a successful return to Cory-Rawson with a 61-33 win.Thomas, who coached the Hornets for the last number of years, is now leading the Falcons.Cory-Rawson, now coached by former Tiffin University standout Ralph Cuellar, led 13-11 after one quarter, but were outscored 50-20 the rest of the way.Reiter finished with 13 points and nine rebounds, while Dussau had 12 points and nine boards. Hayden Hagerty recorded 13 points for the Hornets.The Hornets were paced by Carson Reese, who scored 13 points. Jade Johnson pulled down nine rebounds and Seem had six for the unbeaten Redskins (3-0, 2-0 BVC), who outscored Vanlue 10-2 in the first quarter and 11-3 in the fourth.Olivia Secord scored eight points and Adrienne Phillips had seven for Vanlue. Elmwood had three players in double figures, though, in earning its first win of the season. Selina Deal led Elmwood (1-2) with 16 points, four assists and three steals. Sophomore Molly Barringer had a 14-point, 10-rebound double-double.
