Arlington edges Bluffton, claims holiday tournament

ARLINGTON 55BLUFFTON 53BLUFFTON – In a battle of unbeatens, Arlington not only left with its perfect record intact but a first-place trophy in hand as well after the Red Devils held off Bluffton 55-53 on Saturday in the championship game of the 2024 McDonald's Holiday Tournament.Arlington trailed 24-19 at the half, but Ayden Cavinee scored seven points during a 20-13 third-quarter run that forged a 39-37 lead. The Red Devils were then clutch from the line, connecting on 10-of-16 free throws in the fourth quarter.Cavinee and Jase Vermillion scored 13 points each for Arlington. Tournament MVP Brady Griggs added 12 points for the 9-0 Red Devils.Blake Sommers put in a game-high 20 points for Bluffton.
