16-year-old arrested in killing of Findlay teen

TOLEDO — Toledo police have arrested a 16-year-old youth in connection with the fatal Saturday shooting of a Findlay High School student. The suspect was arrested and charged with murder Wednesday, wrote Toledo police Ofc. Prince Flores in an email. The youth is being held at the Lucas County Juvenile Justice Center. Toledo police responded to a call about the shooting about 6:13 p.m. Saturday in the 500-block of Congress Street, in south Toledo. According to a release from the Toledo Police Department, officers arriving at the scene found 18-year-old Jaidon Mangas suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the torso. A semiautomatic pistol was found on the ground next to Mangas. Mangas received medical attention at the scene before being transported to the University of Toledo Medical Center. According to an autopsy report from the Lucas County Coroner's Office, Mangas was declared dead minutes after arrival at the hospital. His manner of death has been classified as a homicide. Findlay City Schools issued a statement Saturday on Mangas' death: "Trojan Country is grieving the loss of our student, Jaidon Mangas. While we do not have any details surrounding this tragic event, we can confirm that he was a student at Findlay High School."
