Emergency team responds to hostage call

FINDLAY — Findlay Police Department's Emergency Response Team was activated and searched a residence upon receiving a call about a woman being held against her will at gunpoint inside early Friday morning, but no woman was found at the scene. Police officers were first dispatched to 212 Ellis Ave. about 12:34 a.m. on a woman's report of an assault, a release from FPD states. Officers were not able to make contact with anyone at the residence upon arrival, and left. Officers were sent to the same address at 2:42 a.m. upon a report by the same caller, this time reporting she was being "assaulted and threatened with a gun," the release states. She also told FPD a suspect refused to let her answer the door and took her phone the first time police arrived at the residence. Police heard a male voice yelling inside the residence and attempted to contact anyone inside, to no avail. The Emergency Response Team was activated and a warrant was obtained to enter the residence and attempt to locate and check the welfare of the alleged victim. Final attempts were made to call the occupants out and two males exited the residence, the release states. A search was then conducted and a third male was located inside. The female caller was not located inside. Police are attempting to locate the female caller for interview. Police will then request charges be made, the release states.
