Mayor to give 'State of the City' address

FINDLAY — Findlay Mayor Christina Muryn is planning a "State of the City" address and she's taking questions in advance. The address will be given at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 12 at the Marathon Center for the Performing Arts, 200 W Main Cross St. The event is open to the public. Chris Oaks of "Good Mornings" on WFIN will interview the mayor in a "fireside chat," which will conclude with questions from the community. Community members interested in submitting questions can do so online at https://forms.gle/iovGarJC3bMYc4Qu5 for consideration. "Every year, the State of the City provides a valuable opportunity to connect with residents and share the exciting progress we've made, as well as the opportunities that lie ahead," said Muryn. "I look forward to discussing the direction we are headed as a community and what we are doing to ensure Findlay's continued success." During the conversation, Muryn is expected to outline key projects and initiatives on the horizon for the coming year, focusing on economic growth, community priorities and updates on ongoing projects. This will be Muryn's fourth address to the public given at Marathon Center of the Performing Arts. In other years, the mayor has presented the yearly recap in talks given at the meetings of community organizations. Muryn's "State of the City" address in 2024 included some major announcements, including a $276,000 grant from the Ohio Division of Forestry Urban Forestry Grant program. The money was to be used to plant 300 trees, complete risk assessments and treatments on existing trees, create a tree planting plan, and update the city's Geographic Information System or GIS with data on the city's tree canopy. Other announcements last year, included changes coming to the Findlay Village Mall property, 1800 Tiffin Ave., and the founding of the Flag City Sluggers, a Great Lakes Collegiate Summer League team. Muryn also discussed the success of local efforts to reduce overdose deaths in Hancock County.
