UF women rally to edge Malone

INDLAY 70MALONE 68CANTON– Janae Hoying's 3-pointer with 1:30 left in the fourth quarter gave the the University of Findlay women's basketball team the lead, and the Oilers used a 17-8 fourth-quarter run to defeat Malone University on the road on Saturday, 70-68. Malone outscored Findlay 28-19 in the third quarter, opening a 60-53 advantage heading to the fourth. But Oilers rallied for their 19th win of the season.Graduate forward Kate Ellis notched a team-high 18 points, going 6-for-11 from the field and 6-of-8 from the free throw line. Chloe Callahan knocked down three 3-pointers, finishing with 13 points. MacKenzie Schulz ended with 12 points. Alyssa Ziehler recorded 11 points, five rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Hoying had seven points, and Addisyn Freeman added four points and six rebounds. The Oilers shot 55-percent from 3-point range, going 6-of-11. Malone's Erin Kaufman -- an Ottawa-Glandorf graduate -- scored 20 points and grabbed eight boards. Brooklyn Troyer and Abbey Price each had 10. Aila Miller added nine points and six rebounds. Saturday's victory marked the Oilers' 19th victory of the season, now at 19-7. Findlay will be back in Croy Gymnasium on Thursday, hosting Ohio Dominican at 5:30.
