McComb topples Miller City, will face Kalida in district final

GIRLS BASKETBALL DIVISION VII McCOMB 49 MILLER CITY 35 OTTAWA – McComb held a considerable advantage over Miller City on the glass Thursday, and took an early lead and continued to build on it in beating the Wildcats, 49-35 in a Division VII district semifinal. McComb outrebounded Miller City 31-18 in the contest. Kelsey Jenkins registered 13 points to lead the Panthers, who led 22-15 at the break, were up by eight after three, and then outscored Miller City 16-10 in the fourth quarter. McComb improved to 19-5, and avenged a 54-42 regular season loss to Miller City on Jan. 15. Rylee Scheff recorded 10 points for the Panthers, while Morgan Kern scored nine points while collecting five rebounds and four steals. Sarah Rider (7 rebounds) and Kacey Like (6 rebounds, 3 assists) notched five points each for McComb. Miller City's Lou Michel put up 13 points. The Panthers advance to the district final, where they will play Saturday against Kalida. The Wildcats beat North Baltimore in Tuesday's second game at Ottawa Glandorf. BALTIMORE 25 OTTAWA – Meredith Bockrath scored 14 points and dished out four assists, and Kalida had a gigantic first quarter and never looked back, eliminating North Baltimore with a 58-25 victory. The top-seeded Wildcats outscored the Tigers 18-4 in the first quarter and led 30-12 at halftime. Kalida advances to play McComb, which defeated Miller City in Thursday's first game. The Panthers and Wildcats will square off for the district title at noon Saturday, back at Ottawa. Addilyn Huber registered 11 points for Kalida and Allie Kuhlman added 10 points. North Baltimore was paced by Lacie Allison, who had 16 points and six rebounds. Savannah Phillips had a team-best seven boards to go with four points. Lauryn Auchmuty made three 3-pointers on her way to 18 points, adding five rebounds, three assists and seven steals for the Bulldogs, who improved to 22-2. Columbus Grove will play top seeded Convoy Crestview in Saturday's 4 p.m. district final in Van Wert. Nicole Nesby recorded 10 points and eight rebounds for the Bulldogs, while Ruth Myers scored seven points. HENRY 60 EVERGREEN 14 NAPOLEON – Carys Crossland poured in 25 points for Patrick Henry in Thursday's Division VI district semifinal at Napoleon, outscoring Evergreen by herself in the Patriots 60-14 win Ada Christman added 16 points, 14 rebounds and four assists for the Patriots, who improved to 23-1. Kacey Nelson added 11 points for Patrick Henry, while Sophie Guelde recorded four steals. The Patriots will advance to Saturday's district final against Ottawa Hills. Tipoff is at 2 p.m. at Napoleon. ARCADIA 30ARLINGTON 27FOSTORIA– Arcadia defeated Arlington 30-27 on Thursday in a district semifinal matchup. Arcadia improved to 17-7 with the win, while the Red Devils' season ends with a 9-15 record. The Redskins now move on to a Division VII district final on Saturday against Tiffin Calvert, with tipoff set for noon from Fostoria. P-GILBOA 47W-GOSHEN 40ELIDA– Pandora-Gilboa trailed Waynesfield Goshen 20-13 at halftime of Thursday's district semifinal at Elida. But things changed drastically for the Rockets after that. Savannah Knueven scored 15 points and had seven rebounds, and Ava Huffman finished with 17 points as Pandora-Gilboa outscored W-G 34-20 in the second half and defeated the Tigers, 47-40. Reagan Hutchison led Waynesfield-Goshen with 14 points. The Rockets' (14-10) victory advanced them to a Div. VII district final matchup with Ottoville on Saturday at noon in Elida.
