Sheriff investigates JFS threat

FINDLAY — The Hancock County Job and Family Services/Ohio Means Jobs building will open back to the public at 8 a.m. today after a threat potentially aimed at staff and the premises was investigated by Hancock County Sheriff's Office deputies over the weekend. A release from the sheriff's office states a male caller contacted the Northwest Ohio Jobs and Family Services Center in Sandusky County and made a threat to the call-taker over canceled benefits about 3 p.m. Friday, saying he would "blow y'all up" during the call. The caller did not specify whether the threat was directed at the Sandusky County or Hancock County JFS office, but the Sandusky County Sheriff's Office discovered the caller was a Hancock County resident and referred the call to the Hancock County Sheriff's Office. In coordination with Hancock County JFS Director Randy Galbraith, staff members were evacuated from the facility at 4 p.m. Friday as a precaution. The offices were closed until a further investigation was completed. An Allen County Sheriff's Office K9 unit searched the building for explosives at 8:20 a.m. Monday, but found no threats, after which employees were notified of the ability to return to the office.
