CG's Auchmuty, O-G's Erford earn all-NW district POY nods

Two players and two coaches were among those earning individual honors when members of the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Media Association met to select all-Northwest District teams for the 2024-25 girls basketball season.Ottawa-Glandorf's Karsyn Erford in Division V and Columbus Grove's Lauryn Auchmuty in Division VI earned player of the year recognition in their respective divisions. Findlay's Brian Rosendale (Division I) and Patrick Henry's Justin Sonnenberg (Division VI) were coaches of the year.In preseason analysis for the 2024-25 season, Rosendale admitted the Trojans faced an uncertain future following the graduation of a strong group of players that had accounted for over 94 percent of the teams scoring, rebounding, assists and steals in compiling an 18-7 record. But an influx of young talent, an emphasis on strong defense – the Trojans allowed an average of just 36.9 points a game – and an ability to come through in the clutch – Findlay won four of five games decided by five points or less – saw the team go 15-7, the fourth straight season with 15 or more wins. It also marked the sixth winning record in Rosendale's seven seasons as head coach.Sonnenberg had a hugely successful season at Patrick Henry as well, guiding the Patriots to a 25-2 record that included Northwest Ohio Athletic League (7-0), sectional and district titles and a bid to the Division VI regional tournament.Auchmuty has led Columbus Grove to the state semifinals for the first time in school history, and is compiling a historic career in the process. The 5-foot-7 senior guard averaged 24.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 4.0 steals during a 20-2 regular season. Along the way, the University of Findlay recruit became the all-time leading scorer in Putnam County girls basketball history (1,856 points) and set school records for 3-pointers in a game (10), season (89) and career (279).Erford, a 5-7 junior guard, averaged 14.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.8 steals in leading Ottawa-Glandorf to an unbeaten regular season. In addition to sharing player of the year honors in Division V, she was also named the District 8 and Western Buckeye League Player of the Year.Findlay High's Davinee Harris was a first-team all-Northwest District pick in Division I.
