HMHA opens rental assistance waiting list

FINDLAY — The Hancock Metropolitan Housing Authority is opening its rental assistance waiting list for preferences strictly for non-elderly disabled people and veterans. The waitlist will be open from noon on April 8 to noon on April 23. Veteran preference is open to families whose head of household or spouse is a veteran or current member of one of the four branches of the U.S. military, who has been discharged or released from such services for reasons other than dishonorable conditions. Widows or widowers of discharged or released servicemembers for reasons other than dishonorable conditions are also eligible if they have not remarried. Applicants must provide the HMHA a copy of their DD214 when submitting an application. HMHA has additional targeted funding for non-elderly disabled people. Head of household, spouse or co-head of household must be income0eligible, under the age of 62 and disabled. Families with only a minor child with a disability are not eligible for funding. A copy of the head of household, spouse or co-head's Social Security disability award letter must be provided when submitting an application. If either preference is not met, applications will be denied. Individuals can pick up an application at the HMHA office, at The Family Center, 1800 N. Blanchard St., Suite 114. Only completed applications will be accepted.
