Grove's Auchmuty named D-VI Player of the Year

COLUMBUS – Ten days after leading her team to the Division VI girls state basketball championship, Columbus Grove's Lauryn Auchmuty added another honor to an illustrious career by being name Ohio's Division VI Player of the Year for the 2024-25 season.Auchmuty averaged 24.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 4.0 steals in leading Grove to a 27-2 record. The 5-foot-7 senior guard was at her all-around best in the state championship game, making 2-of-5 3-point attempts, scoring 17 points, grabbing six rebounds, dishing out six assists and coming up with five steals in the Bulldogs' 65-46 win over Rootstown.A three-time all-Ohio selection and two-time Northwest Conference, Putnam County League and Northwest District Player of the Year, Auchmuty is the all-time career scoring leader in Putnam County girls basketball history with 1,951 points. She also owns all-time records for points (664) and 3-pointers (100) in a single season, along with the school record for points in a game (42). Her 294 career 3-pointers are the 14th most in Ohio girls basketball history.A University of Findlay recruit, Auchmuty was also all-Ohio in girls soccer and a state qualifier in track.Ottawa-Glandorf's Karsyn Erford in Division V and North Baltimore's Lacie Allison in Division VII were also first-team picks among the Division IV, V, VI and VII selections that are based on nominations from the seven districts of the Ohio Prep Sports Media Association and released through the OHSAA on Monday.Erford, a 5-7 junior who has also made a commitment to play college basketball at Findlay, averaged 14.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.2 for an O-G team that went 20-0 in regular season games and advanced to the Division V regional tournament.
