Hancock County Board of Commissioners meeting time changes FINDLAY — The regular meeting of the Hancock County Board of Commissioners will be held later than usual on Tuesday — at 1:30 p.m. — so the commissioners can attend the funeral of Richard Kirk on Tuesday morning. Allen Township meetings to be held The Allen Township Trustees will hold their regular meeting today at 7 p.m. in the township center. The Allen Township Zoning Commission will hold their regular meeting today at 6:30 p.m. in the township center. Candidates to speak at First Friday Luncheon FINDLAY — Candidates in the May 2025 primary election will speak at the Hancock County Republican Party's First Friday Luncheon on Friday at American Legion, 120 W. Front St. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. and the program will start at 11:50 a.m. The buffet costs $10. Reservations may be made by calling 419-422-5946 by noon Wednesday. Vendor license fee hiked FINDLAY — The fee for new vendor's license applications, through the Hancock County Auditor's Office, will increase from $25 to $50 beginning April 9 to support the Organized Crime Commission Fund. The fee increase was approved by the State Legislature. The Organized Crime Commission Fund financially supports local law enforcement agencies when they participate in organized crime investigations. 8th annual Safe Surrender Day set FINDLAY — The Findlay Municipal Court, in conjunction with Second Chance Month, will be conducting its 8th Annual Safe Surrender Day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 7 at the Hancock County Court House. Individuals with active Findlay Municipal Court bench warrants who report to the court on that day will not be arrested and will work with designated court staff to clear their warrants. Some examples include Individuals who: failed to attend a court hearing will be seen by the Judge, Magistrate or court staff that day; failed to perform community service will be reassigned to a work location. If the individual missed a community service contempt hearing, the hearing will be conducted to and the person will be permitted to reschedule their community service; did not complete counseling for mental health or substance abuse will be allowed to re-engage in treatment; did not attend a status conference will meet with a magistrate or court staff to review their financial ability to pay outstanding fines and to establish a new payment plan; and did not report to serve a jail sentence will be issued a new date to report. Staff from the City of Findlay Law Director's Office will be available along with staff from the Hancock County Public Defender's Office to meet with their clients. Upon reporting to the Court on Safe Surrender Day, the warrant will be lifted and recalled from law enforcement. This is a one day only event. The Court currently has over 2800 active bench warrants. Individuals who are unsure if they have an outstanding bench warrant can view a list of active Findlay Municipal Court warrants at https://xfoien2k.findlayohio.gov/Warrants/Active. Legion to host baked steak dinner BRADNER — The Bradner American Legion will host a baked steak dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., or until sold out, at 209 West Crocker Street. The meal is dine-in or carry-out, costs $10 and will include baked steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, a dinner roll and pie. To preorder call 419-288-3634. Habitat for Humanity to hold Raise the Wall ceremony FINDLAY — Habitat for Humanity of Findlay-Hancock County will officially begin construction of three homes during a Raise the Wall ceremony today 5:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of Bishop lane. During the ceremony the new homeowners, the Summers, Gault and Greiner families, will share their journeys followed by a countdown and raising of the first walls of each home simultaneously. The ceremony will kick off the building of three homes, #62, #63 and #64. The event is open to the public and will be livestreamed on the Habitat for Humanity of Findlay/Hancock County Facebook page.
