Findlay's Stechschulte, L-B's Gaerke each win two events at BG

BOWLING GREEN --Findlay's girls track team only won one event -- the 4x100 -- but the Trojans piled up enough points Friday to take third place at the Duff Madaras Bobcat Invitational in Bowling Green.The FHS 4x100 relay finished in 51.21, and the Trojans notched 77 overall.Fremont Ross' girls scored 164 1/2 points for the team title, outdistancing runner-up Oak Harbor (140) and the rest of the eight-team field.Liberty-Benton finished with 44 points for eighth, and that was despite Maaddi Gaerki winning the 800 and 1,600 races, and Emily Eyink taking first in the shot put.Gaerke ran the 1,600 in 5:22.6, beating out the runner-up, Findlay's Natalie Gutman, who ran in 5:23.9.Gaerke ran the 800 in 2:25.12. Eyink threw 36-4 1/4 in the shot to take first.On the boys side, Findlay's Adrian Stechschulte claimed a pair of victories, in the 1,600 (4:23.02) and the 800 (1:57.83).Liberty-Benton's Jack Hochstettler was the runner-up to Stechschulte in the 1,600, and the Eagles placed fourth (92) out of eight teams. Findlay was in fifth, with 81 points.Oak Harbor took the boys team title with 120 points, 10 better than runner-up Fremont Ross.Liberty-Benton's boys had three individual champions at Bowling Green. Aiden Lee won the 3,200 in 9:49.67, Tyler Grose took the discus in 167-5 and Stafan Kolan cleared 14-6 to win the pole vault. DOUG MOWERY INVIT. VAN BUREN – Van Buren made it a clean sweep on its home track on Friday, taking both the boys and girls championships of the 2025 Doug Mowery InvitationalVan Buren held a half-point lead over Kalida after 14 events, but pulled away for a 149.5 to 138-point margin of victory in the girls meet. Elmwood (99) edged Lake High School (90.5) for third, followed by Carey (63), Arlington (39.5), McComb (33.5), North Baltimore (15), and Vanlue and Arcadia (14).Van Buren won the final boys event – the 1,600-meter relay – and finished with 167 total points. Lake was a solid second (132), followed by Carey (101.5), Arlington (75.5), McComb (73.5), Elmwood (53.5), Kalida (32), North Baltimore (14), Vanlue (95.) and Arcadia (1.5).A strong showing in the hurdles highlighted Van Buren's march to the girls meet title, with Rylee Orchard (16.93) and Keely Parsell (17.99) finishing 1-2 in the 100 hurdles and Maddie Hudok (51.33) and Orchard (52.05) placing 2-3 in the 300s.Tori Schroeder won the 1,600 (5:53.34) and joined Lydia Ponn, Kaitlyn Homan and Lacey Bowman on the first-place 3,200 relay (10:45.74). Courtney Snyder won the shot put (38-½) and Easton Wymer the discus (123-8). Kami Bowman was third in the 100 (13.38).Elmwood won the 800 relay with Heavenlei Newson, Sophia Gilliland, Natalie Nietz and Alanya Beasley crossing the line in 1:47.78. RIVER VALLEY RELAYSCALEDONIA – Upper Sandusky's Abbi Ault had a hand in three first-place efforts at the River Valley Relays on Friday.Ault joined Macie Clark, Molly Minehart and Brynlee Cundiff on the winning 6,400-meter relay (25:05.20), Cundiff, Addison Niederkohr and Kimberly Thomas on the distance medley relay (11:13.58) and Niederkohr, Clark and Abigal Gottfried on the 3,200 relay (11:22.28).Upper's Madelyn Collins, Jocelyn Leightey, Arielle O'Flaherty and Shiloh Shasteen also won the 400 relay (53.01).In the boys meet, Upper won the distance medley relay with Jameson Reile, Eli Smith, Javin Coburn and Carter Pohlman posting a time of 9:10.61.LIMA BATH INVITELIMA – Bluffton and Ottawa-Glandorf dominated the track meet at Lima Bath on Friday, with Bluffton (139) edging O-G (114.5) for the girls title, and the schools switching spots – O-G had 132 points, Bluffton 117.5 – in the boys standings.Ottawa-Glandorf swept the relay events in the girls portion of the meet, posting first place times of 51.02 in the 400, 1:48.90 in the 800, 4:12.63 in the 1,600, and 10:18.60 in the 3,200. TENNIS TOLEDO – Findlay High's boys team is team came out on top in two three-set matches and upped its record to 5-0 on the season with a 4-1 victory over Ottawa Hills on Friday.At No. 2 singles, Luke Williams outlasted Ian Marzano 6-3, 6-7, 6-3.
