Findlay tennis blanks Perrysburg

BOYS TENNIS FINDLAY 5PERRYSBURG 0FINDLAY – The Northern Lakes League tennis championship is two weeks away. Findlay made a statement it plans to be in the title hunt conversation, though, shutting out Perrysburg 5-0 on Tuesday in a NLL match at the FHS Courts.Perrysburg finished second to Anthony Wayne in the 2024 NLL tournament. The Yellow Jackets have been the dominant force in the league, though, winning 21 NLL title over the years.Sam Swisher set the tone for the competitive kind of night it was going to be, outlasting Perrysburg's Finn Wilhelms 6-0, 4-6, 6-1 in a three-set match at No. 1 singles.Luke Williams and Owen Vick followed suit with singles wins of their own, with Williams beating Aaditya Ambulkar 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2, and Vick, 9-0 on the season, taking the No. 3 match 6-1, 6-4 over Patrick Chen.At No. 1 doubles, Owen Metz and Jonathan Wright defeated Jacob Achenbach and Victor Konszal 6-1, 6-2.Cohen Perkins and John Dornbush capped the 5-0 sweep when they went overtime for a 7-5, 7-6 (2) No. 2 doubles win over Ilya Prytup and Robbie Zhang.Now 12-1 overall and 7-0 in all NLL matches, Findlay continues a busy week by hosting Elida today, traveling to Anthony Wayne to face the reigning NLL champion Generals on Thursday and welcoming Walsh Jesuit to the FHS Courts on Friday BASEBALL FINDLAY 6WHITMER 3TOLEDO – Findlay overcame a 3-2 deficit with four runs in the top of the seventh inning and held on to beat Toledo Whitmer 6-3 in Tuesday's Northern Lakes League baseball matchup.Landon Echelberry, a freshman right-hander, earned the win and Cole Hull the save as Findlay posted its third straight win and improved to 7-3 overall and 2-2 in NLL Buckeye Division games. Echelberry went the first six innings, giving up three runs on six hits and striking out five. Hull pitched a 1-2-3 seventh, striking out two of the three batters he faced after Findlay had gone up 6-3 in the top of the inning.Jackson Fletchner and Payton Longnecker had two hits each and both drove in a run.
