Ottawa Hills tops Findlay in 10 innings

BASEBALL OTTAWA HILLS 5FINDLAY 3FINDLAY – Findlay and Ottawa Hills were not schedule to play a doubleheader on Saturday.But they almost did, anyway.Ottawa Hills broke through for three runs in the top of the 10th and the Green Bears weathered a small Findlay comeback in the bottom of the inning to earn a 5-3 win over the Trojans in a nonleague game at Woody Curlis Field.Ranked No. 6 in the state among Ohio's Division V schools, Ottawa Hills upped its record to 8-1. Findlay had a three-game win streak snapped and is 7-4 heading into a home-and-home Northern Lakes League series starting today with Perrysburg.Jay Breed lined two singles, a triple, drove in two runs and earned the pitching win for Ottawa Hills. Breed allowed one run on three hits and struck out three over the final 2-2/3 innings. Ottawa Hills starter Cole Hennessey gave up two runs on four hits and struck out nine.Luke Crates, the second of three Findlay pitchers, took the loss. Cole Hull went eight innings; Blade Wendt finished up the last of the 10th.Landon Echelberry led Findlay offensively, lining two singles, a triple, driving in one run and scoring another.
