Perrysburg scores two in seventh to edge Trojans

FINDLAY STUFF BASEBALL PERRYSBURG 6FINDLAY 5FINDLAY – Perrysburg pushed across two runs in the top of the seventh inning and AJ Crowley gave the Yellow Jackets some clutch pitching in relief in a 6-5 win over Findlay on Monday in a Northern Lakes League Buckeye Division game at Woody Curlis Field.Findlay forged a 5-4 lead thanks to two-run rallies in the fifth and sixth innings. Perrysburg, despite being outhit 12-4, scratched out two runs in the seventh, though, to improve to 10-2 overall and 4-1 in NLL Buckeye Division play.Tyler Palmer started and went 5-1/3 innings for Perrysburg. Crowley got the win in relief, allowing one run on three hits before closing it down.Ryan Maas, the third of three Findlay pitchers, absorbed the loss. Landon Echelberry started and struck out nine Perrysburg batters in his 5-1/3 innings. Jackson Fletchner also threw an inning of relief.Junior shortstop and lead-off hitter Blade Wendt lined a double and two base hits and scored twice. Junior outfielder Jack Rhoades also had three hits and drove in three runs. GREEN 2BOWLING GREEN – Findlay took control early with a couple of three-run rallies and went on post a 10-2 win over Bowling Green on Monday in a Northern Lakes League cross-over softball game.Findlay's top six hitters went a combined 9-for-21, drove in 10 runs and scored nine.Sophomore third baseman Monika Kerwin, batting lead-off, had a single and a home run, drove in two runs and scored twice. Junior right-fielder Ryan Boes had a single, a double and scored twice, and senior first baseman Laney Oliver, batting clean-up and hitting .447 on the season, was 3-for-4 with two single and a double, drove in three runs and scored two.Freshman centerfielder Davinee Harris singled and drove in two runs and junior leftfielder Lola Spieles doubled and knocked in three. Junior catcher Addelyn Sprang, Findlay's leader in batting average (.600, home runs (6) and RBI (20), was walked twice and scored both times.Three-run rallies in the first and third innings earned Findlay a 6-1 lead over Bowling Green. An extra two runs in both the fourth and fifth innings was more than enough offense for Findlay pitchers Emily Cole and Natalie Steffes. Cole, a sophomore right-hander, started and went the first three innings, allowing one run on three hits.
