Mohawk topples Upper Sandusky, claims share of N10

SANDUSKY 2UPPER SANDUSKY – In a showdown for sole possession of first place in the Northern 10 Conference softball standings, Mohawk used a record-setting pitching performance by Aubrey Gottfried and two two-run rallies to beat Upper Sandusky 5-2 on Saturday and claim at least a share of the 2025 league title.Gottfried allowed just two runs on four hits, struck out nine and walked just one. The nine strikeouts gave the sophomore right-hander an N10 record 269 for the season.Mallory Brickner and Trenna Johnson had two hits and an RBI each for Mohawk, which led 5-0 before Carey got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning. Madison Hart belted a solo home run for Upper.Mohawk improved to 20-5 overall and 11-2 in the N10. TENNIS DIVISION I DISTRICTFINDLAY – Findlay's doubles team of Sam Swisher and Owen Vick finished second and Luke Williams was fourth in singles competition when the Division I sectional tennis tournament wrapped up on Saturday.Swisher and Vick posted a 6-2, 6-1 win over Anthony Wayne's Geyer Tollstam and Will Rhodes in the semifinals, but then dropped a 6-3, 6-2 decision to Will Black and Brody Sotto, also of Anthony Wayne, in the championship match.Williams fell 6-1, 6-4 to Hugh Wagoner of Toledo St. Francis in his opener on Saturday, then lost 6-1, 6-2 to Springfield's Zach White in the match for third and fourth place.Saturday's results determine seeding for the district tournament to be held this week in Port Clinton.
