Norwalk puts three on Lake first team

The Norwalk softball team put three players on the All-Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division first team, the league announced on May 20. That trio was led by senior outfielder/catcher Mya Prochnow. She enters Thursday's district semifinal batting .494 with seven doubles, six home runs and has 26 RBIs for the Truckers (12-11, 6-4). Prochnow has also scored 27 runs and stolen 15 bases. Senior first baseman Lilly Farmer was also on the first team. She is batting .406 with three doubles, one home run and 17 RBIs while also scoring 19 runs. Freshman pitcher Kenadee Lesch earned the last first team spot for Norwalk. In 18 games in the circle, Lesch is 6-4 with a 3.27 earned run average. Lesch has 97 strikeouts and 33 walks in 77 innings. Sophomore outfielder CJ Bennett earned a spot on the second team for Norwalk. She is batting .353 with six doubles, 16 RBIs and has scored 20 runs. A pair of Norwalk players also earned honorable mention recognition in freshman pitcher Saige Viock (4-6, 3.58 ERA) and junior infielder Audryn Ott (.347, 22 runs). Clyde pitcher Taitum Jeffrey earned Most Outstanding Performer honors for the league champion Fliers. BAY DIVISION Edison's Cloud is top player After winning 20 games and the league title outright, Edison put six players on the SBC Bay first team, including five by a unanimous vote. That group was led by sophomore pitcher Abby Cloud, who shared Most Outstanding Performer honors with Port Clinton pitcher Ashton Sanchez. Cloud is 18-4 with a 3.16 ERA in the circle for the Chargers entering a Division V district semifinal vs. Crestview on Wednesday. She had 141 strikeouts and 69 walks in 130 1/3 innings of work. Also for the Chargers (20-6, 10-0), junior infielder Peyton Taylor was a unanimous selection. She is batting .554 with 15 doubles, four triples, three home runs with 49 RBIs, and has also scored 38 runs. Junior infielder Stella Brown was also a unanimous selection. She is hitting .387 with five doubles, three triples, one home run and 19 RBIs. Brown has also scored 48 runs in 26 games. Also earning a unanimous spot was sophomore outfielder Natalie Desautels and sophomore catcher Macari Harris. Desautels is batting .522 with three doubles, two triples, 28 RBIs and 45 runs scored. Harris has a .363 average with a triple, five RBIs and 24 runs scored. Senior outfielder Ivy Kluding was also first team for Edison. She hits .337 with seven doubles, two triples, one home run, 20 RBIs and 21 runs scored. Freshman Lariah McMinn (.328, 14 RBIs, 25 runs) was honorable mention for the Chargers. Willard (3-20, 1-9) put senior infielder Lauren Hamons on the first team and three players on the honorable mention list. Hamons hit .422 with nine doubles, one triple, three home runs and drove in 21.
