Summer 4-H Camp: learning, leadership, and lifelong memories

Each summer, young 4-H members pack their bags and prepare for 5 days of adventure, learning, and friendship at 4-H camp. Here in Hancock County, we are grateful to be able to travel and camp at 4-H Camp Ohio in St. Louisville, Ohio. 4-H Camp Ohio is nestled along the Rocky Fork Stream approximately ten miles east of Utica, Ohio. It is situated on more than 500 acres in the beautiful rolling hills of northern Licking County. Campers participate in various activities, from archery and canoeing to team-building games and outdoor survival skills. The hands-on experiences foster responsibility, resilience, and leadership, along with the core values of 4-H. Whether crafting a tie-dye shirt, tackling a high ropes course, or working together in group challenges, campers learn through doing. Evening campfires bring stories, songs, and laughter, strengthening bonds among campers. Beyond the fun, 4-H camp is a unique opportunity for personal growth. Many campers arrive unsure of themselves but leave with newfound confidence and friendships that last a lifetime. Leadership workshops, environmental education, and team activities empower youth, preparing them for future success. The sense of belonging at camp helps shape young minds, inspiring them to return as counselors and mentors. Tradition plays a significant role at the 4-H camp. From familiar chants echoing through the trees to the time-honored campfire ceremonies, every camper becomes part of something larger than themselves. These shared experiences create a deep connection among campers, reminding them that growth happens when they step outside their comfort zone. As another summer approaches, anticipation builds. For first-time campers, it's the beginning of a new journey. For returning campers, it's a chance to make even more unforgettable memories. The lessons learned, friendships formed, and leadership skills developed ensure that 4-H camp remains more than just a summer destination—it's a transformative experience that lasts a lifetime. Registration for the 2025 4-H Camp is now open using our online registration link and welcomes both 4-H members and non-members between the ages of 8 and 14 that are in at least 3rd grade through 8th grade.
