Permit issued for Findlay Target store

FINDLAY — Target was issued a building permit Wednesday for the planned construction of a $20.3 million, 132,258-square-foot store to replace much of the Findlay Village Mall. Demolition will likely begin soon on the 188,000-square-foot main part of Findlay Village Mall to make room for the new store. The new building will be separated from the Dunham's and Michael's stores to the west, leaving room for a 24-foot drive aisle and 44 additional parking spaces on the west side. Though the new building will abut existing building spaces to the east and to the north, it will not be connected to them. "Securing Target for Findlay has been a decade-long goal," said Chris Keller, executive director of Findlay-Hancock County Economic Development. "The store will elevate our retail landscape while driving economic growth and opportunity for the community." "We are thrilled to welcome Target as a cornerstone of The Findlay Mall's revitalization," said Findlay Mayor Christina Muryn. "This project showcases our community's progress and the strong partnerships we've forged with Rocky Companies and (Findlay-Hancock County Economic Development). It's a major step forward, bringing new opportunities and convenience to our residents."
