Van Buren girls golf team gets new clubs

VAN BUREN — The Van Buren girls golf team was recently selected as one of 20 high school programs in northern Ohio to receive new clubs and other gear from the Northern Ohio PGA Section Foundation's Clubs Fore Kids initiative. The team received three new sets of golf clubs, golf balls, tees and headcovers to help outfit new players. In addition, the team participated Wednesday in a private golf lesson with PGA Professional Jordan Schroeder at the Findlay Country Club. "We were unaware of this absolutely awesome opportunity to apply for clubs for new golfers, and it's so thrilling to be more closely connected to a program like this," said Coach Rhonda Nye. "These clubs will make a huge difference for our players who are just getting started and didn't have their own equipment." In addition to providing equipment and instruction from certified PGA pros, the Clubs Fore Kids program also assists with the cost of course memberships and tournament entry fees and provides practice manuals made by PGA pros.
