Arcadia UM ARCADIA — Arcadia United Methodist Church, 19397 County Road 216, will celebrate Father's Day with a penny collection. The Rev. Gerry Hubbs will speak on "The Father's Love." Sunday school starts at 9 a.m. followed by the main service at 10. Children's church will be provided. After church, the Wesley Class will meet at Honey Joe's Cafe for lunch. United Women in Faith will offer lunch for "Friends of a Certain Age" on Friday. Lunch is free and open to anyone ages 65 and older. A chicken/pulled pork barbecue is planned from 4:30-6:30 p.m. June 21. Tickets are $15, available by presale only through Sunday. Tickets may be ordered from the church office. College First FINDLAY — "Real Love" is the sermon title that will be presented at the 9, 10 and 11 a.m. services at College First Church of God. The scripture reading is 1 John 4:19-21. Vacation Bible school will be held from 6-8 p.m. July 21-25. This year's theme is "It's About Time!" Children will learn the importance of time and patience throughout the Bible as a steam punk time traveler guides them through the week. Activities will include stories, songs, games and snacks. For current updates at the church, visit CollegeFirst.org First Mennonite, Bluffton BLUFFTON — First Mennonite Church is holding a Native American fundraiser meal at 11 a.m. June 22 at 101 S. Jackson St. The public is invited to a "Frybread Feast," a meal made up of foods representing several indigenous cultures. The main dish will be a frybread taco. Frybread is popular among all indigenous people and is said to have been invented by the Dine, better known as the Navajo. The menu will also include cherry wild rice topped with maple syrup, a dish popular in the Great Lakes region; Iroquoian succotash made with corn beans and squash; and raspberry soup, called "wojapi" by the plains tribes. Donations will support the work of the Coalition to Dismantle the Doctrine of Discovery. Mennonites are celebrating 500 years of Anabaptism which is the theological framework of their faith. The Doctrine of Discovery is a papal bull from the 1400s that was used to justify the theft of indigenous lands and the ongoing genocide of indigenous peoples across the world. The Coalition to Dismantle the Doctrine of Discovery, founded in the Anabaptist tradition, calls on the Christian church to address the ongoing harms of colonization and follow indigenous leadership in the work of Repair — creating new restorative ways of relating with each other and the land. First Presbyterian FINDLAY — First Presbyterian Church, 2330 S. Main St., welcomes all to worship at 10 a.m. Sunday. The Rev. Ann Wasson will be preaching. Coffee hospitality begins at 9:30 a.m. in the parlor and continues after the service. Childcare for infants and toddlers is at 9:45. All are welcome. Good Hope Lutheran, Arlington ARLINGTON — On the first Sunday after Pentecost, Good Hope Lutheran Church will hold two worship services led by Daniel Basinger. The message "I Still Have Many Things to Say to You" will be presented at both. Madison Thomas will serve as organist for the services. She will be joined by LouAnn Cousino for the following organ/piano duets: "Brethren, We Have Met to Worship," "This is My Father's World," "Morning Has Broken" and "They Will Know We Are Christians by Our Love." Sunday school for all ages will be held at 9 a.m. with refreshments before class time. Some of the children's classes will be combined for the summer months, but two adult classes and the nursery class will be held as usual. The youth of the congregation will meet in the basement. Youth will have a kayaking day on June 21. Advance registration is needed. There will be no Saturday service this week. Our Lady of Consolation CAREY — The Most Rev. Daniel E. Thomas, Bishop of Toledo, will celebrate Mass for the 100th anniversary of Our Lady of Consolation, now designated a basilica, at 7 p.m. June 25. After being under construction for a little over 20 years, then-Bishop Samuel A. Stritch was the celebrant for the solemn dedication of the church on Sunday, June 25, 1925. Thousands were in attendance for the dedication. Following the solemn Mass, there was a Eucharistic procession around Carey. Redeemer Lutheran FINDLAY — June 8 was the beginning of the season of Pentacost for the church year. Members of Redeemer Lutheran Church responded by wearing red clothing. The Rev. Bill Geiger announced that the church is resuming two practices that haven't been used since COVID, including "Pass the Peace." Geiger will also move to the back of the church and greet people as they leave. Sunday school will still be held at 9:15 a.m. as usual. The church has a new identification sign that hasn't yet been fully installed. Members doing the work found out that a ground fault breaker has tripped due to the extreme rainfall in the last few weeks. Cathy Davis will share her message, "Whom Shall I Send?," during the 9 a.m. service Sunday at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church. The service includes scripture, music, prayer, a children's message and a meaningful sermon. Communion is offered on the first Sunday of each month, and all are welcome to participate. St. Andrew's will host this week's community dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., featuring chicken in gravy over mashed potatoes, green beans, fruit, salad and cookies. A free monthly blood pressure screening will also be available. St. Paul Lutheran, Jenera JENERA — The Holy Trinity will be celebrated during the 9 a.m. traditional service and the 11:15 a.m. contemporary service Sunday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 9340 Township Road 32. The Rev. Deb Noll will lead a Lutheran Inquiry Class at 10:15 a.m. Sunday school for all ages will also be held. Father's Day will be observed with "Donuts For Dad." West Independence FOSTORIA — The Rev. Ben Wallick will be speaking Sunday at West Independence Church. Father's Day will also be celebrated. The service begins at 9 a.m., and Peyton Hutton will provide special music. A noisy offering will be collected to benefit Vacation Bible school which is scheduled June 22-26 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Register students age 2 through fifth grade by calling the church office at 419-894-6454. Following worship, coffee fellowship will be held in the Family Life Center. Sunday school classes begin at 10:15 a.m. and are available for all ages from nursery through adult.
