SummerREAD programs to begin at library

FINDLAY — The Findlay-Hancock County Public Library is hosting exciting events and activities June 15-21 as a part of its SummerREAD program. The library will host a Reading Games Get-Together on Monday, June 16 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Children's Programming Room. Families can practice reading skills with their children and play a collection of games that exercise early literacy skills such as letter names, letter shapes and sounds. Family Paint Day will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Lindamood Room. Presented by the Family Resource Center, families will paint a colorful kindness rock or tile. Children 8 and under should be accompanied by an adult. Registration can be found at findlaylibrary.org/events. At 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, Miss Nicole will present Storytime. Participants will sing, rhyme, read, and craft while learning how letters paint stories. At 2 p.m. on Tuesday in the Lindamood Room, kids will engage in art, science, and engineering projects exploring how to use physics to make art. Children eight and under should be accompanied by an adult. Also at 2 p.m. Tuesday, basic tech help will be offered in the Younger Room. Participants are encouraged to bring their devices or practice on one of the library laptops. A Teen Fiesta Cooking program will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Lindamood Room. Teens will learn to make fruit salsa and cinnamon chips. The Family Resource Center will be facilitating conversations about the colorful world of feelings and how to master them. The monthly craft circle will also be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Administration Office. Participants are encouraged to bring their craft projects and spend time with fellow crafters. A Mini Meet-Up is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Wednesday and Friday in the Children's Programming Room in the Children's Department. Children can explore games, toys, and activities that are both fun and educational while socializing with new friends. Starter Storytime will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday and Friday in the Lindamood Room, with a second session on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Miss Nicole will lead families in singing, rhyming, reading, and having fun with scarves and bells. At 6 p.m. on Wednesday in the Administration Office, the Thrills & Chills Book Discussion will take on an art heist in The Art Forger by B. A. Shapiro. The library will be closed on Thursday, June 19 for Juneteenth. A world of glow-in-the-dark golf and games will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Lindamood Room.
