Kemmere wins three events at Flag City meet

FINDLAY – Claire Kemmere, a three-time state qualifier for Findlay High School and competing for the Bowling Green Swim Club during the summer long course season, won three events on Friday on opening day of the 42nd annual Flag City Invitational at Riverside Pool. Kemmere, competing in the women's 17-over division, raced her way to wins in the 400-meter freestyle (4:46.67), the 800 free (9:58.61) and the 1,500 free (18:44.32). Two members of the Findlay YMCA Frogs Swim Team, the host for the meet, also won titles on Friday. Ellie Zerr won the 400 free in the girls 9-10 division (5:53.83), and Tori Lewis (5:15.26) captured the same event in the girls 11-12 age bracket. Findlay's Norah Dolan was fourth (6:23.20) and Eden Kempf fifth (7L23.38) in the girls 15-16 400, and Ava Beuschlein was fifth (5:28.92) in the 17-over 400. Dolan, Kempf, Beuschlein and Ava Blide were sixth (11:03.17) in the 13-over 800 relay. In the boys competition, Nicholas Kasiborski was fourth in the 17-over division in both the 800 (10:59.84) and 1,500 (20:29.50) freestyles. Jack Zerr (8-under) bettered the meet record in placing second in the 400 (6:58.64), Noah Chan was fourth (7:03.47) and Logan Parker fifth (8:01.66) in the 9-10 400, Caleb Ely (4:56.70) and Maddox Debelak (5:02.90) were fourth and fifth in the 15-16 400, and Stephan Mahler was sixth (5:134.07) in the 13-14 400. The meet resumes today and concludes on Sunday, with morning and afternoon sessions both days. (14-sub head) Hunt gets hole-in-one FINDLAY – Joslyn Hunt, a 2024 Van Buren graduate and four-time state qualifier for the Black Knights girls golf team, scored a hole-in-one at Findlay's par-3 Shady Grove Golf Course on Tuesday, acing the 116-yard No. 13 hole with a 9-iron. Witnessing the shot were Adam McKinniss and Tina Hunt.
