Kemmere wins more races at Riverside

Claire Kemmere was at it again at Riverside Park this weekend.The three-time state qualifier for Findlay High School,who competes for the Bowling Green Swim Club during the offseason, won three events at the Flag City Invitational Friday.On Saturday and Sunday, Kemmere added to her accolades at Riverside Park, winning another three.She won the 17-and older women's 200 free in 2:18.88. She he also claimed the 50 back in 34.89 and the 100 backstroke in 1:13.68.Other Findlay swimmers had a big couple of days at Riverside. Tori Lewis was victorious in four events over the Invite's final two days. She won the women 11-12 100 back in 1:18.30, the 200 back in 2:45.41, the 50 back and the 50 fly in 34.93.Meanwhile, Findlay's Ellie Zerr took first in the girls 9-10 200 free, crossing the line in 2:52.67. In the girls 13-14 100 free, in 1:03.79In the boys 9-10 100 fly, Jack Zerr claimed the 8&up 100 fly in 2:25.4 and the 200 IM in 4:30.1. SLUGGERS BASEBALL MUSKEGON – The Flag City Sluggers got their first win Friday night. On Saturday, they recorded their second. With Sunday's 9-2 win over Muskegon Sunday, the Sluggers registered another first: Their first series sweep. On Sunday, Harrison Engskov tripled and drove in two runs, and starting pitcher Bryce Stenzel threw six strong innings. Stenzel allowed one run on four hits, striking out six. Findlay native Ben Best threw a scoreless inning of relief, striking out a batter. In four appearances, five innings, Best has yet to be scored upon. The Sluggers followed up their first-ever win on Friday with a gut-check win over Saturday, beating Muskegon 7-6 in 11 innings.Harrison Engskov had a single, a double and drove in three runs and Tanner Powell had a three-run triple for Flag City. Muskegon threatened in the bottom of the ninth inning, but Sluggers centerfielder Will Lafferty gunned down what would have been the winning run at the plate.In the 11th, pinch hitter Cameron Baker delivered an RBI single to score pinch runner Charlie Smith with the go-ahead run. Cooper Ashby set Muskegon down 1-2-3 in the 11th to get the win.Holden Baker had three singles, a double and drove in two run for Muskegon (1-7).
