College First FINDLAY — "Life" is the sermon title for the 9, 10 and 11 a.m. services Sunday at College First Church of God. Scripture readings are 1 John 5:1-5 for the traditional service, and 1 John 5:1-12 for the contemporary service. Vacation Bible school will be held July 21-25 from 6-8 p.m. The theme is "It's About Time!" Children will learn the importance of time and patience throughout the Bible. Upward Sports is entering its fifth season of flag football and cheerleading at College First. The deadline to register is July 19. There are also opportunities to volunteer as coaches and referees. A scrap metal drive is being held through July 31. First Lutheran FINDLAY — All are welcome to worship as First Lutheran Church celebrates the third Sunday after Pentecost. The Rev. Tucker O'Leary will share the message from Luke 9:51-62. Worship services are at 8:15 and 10:45 a.m. O'Leary is also leading a book discussion on Mark Allan Powell's "Giving to God" during the Sunday school hour. Requests this month for the Blessing Basket Food Pantry at St. John's Lutheran Church are peanut butter, shampoo, bar soap, laundry soap and dish detergent. These items can be placed on the cart by the elevator or dropped off at the pantry on Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. O'Leary continues to lead a 15-minute midday prayer service at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday in the chapel for members and people of the community to sit and refocus their day with personal prayer. Holy Communion will be offered on Tuesday and Thursday and a short healing service available on Monday and Wednesday. Stuff the Bus donations can be depositied in the big blue box. The church book club will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the lounge to discuss "The Midnight Library" by Matt Haig. First Presbyterian FINDLAY — First Presbyterian Church welcomes all to worship and a picnic at 10 a.m. Sunday at Riverside Park, shelter #7. The Rev. Jessica Commeret will be preaching. The picnic will follow the service, and hot dogs will be provided. Those attending are asked to bring a side dish and a lawn chair. Since the service will be outside, it will not be livestreamed. Good Hope Lutheran, Arlington ARLINGTON — Good Hope Lutheran Church will return to three services this weekend including 5 p.m. today and 7:30 and 10 a.m. Sunday. On this third Sunday after Pentecost, the Rev. Steve Ramsey will deliver the message "About Peter and Paul." Scripture readings will include Acts 12:1-11, Psalm 87:1-7, 2 Timothy 4:6-8 and 17-18, and John 21:15-19. Pam McCloud will accompany the hymns on Saturday. During Sunday services, Madison Thomas will be the organist. She will be joined by Lou Ann Cousino for the special piano/organ selections. The prelude will be "Lift High the Cross," and "America the Beautiful" is the anthem. "Amazing Grace" will be played during the offeratory, and "Let's Just Praise the Lord" is the postlude. Classes for Bible study and Sunday school begin at 9 a.m. Everyone is welcome to attend any of the classes from nursery to adult. Refreshments are available prior to class time. The Parish Ed Committee is collecting new socks for the upcoming school year through the Christian Clearing House. Items are also needed for the baby kits being assembled for Lutheran World Relief. Containers for these donated items are located in the educational unit. Howard UM FINDLAY — Howard United Methodist Church is hosting the community dinner on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The menu will feature beef and noodles, green beans, roll and cake. The public is invited. LCBA FINDLAY — LCBA (Loyal Christian Benefit Association) members donated $200 each to several organizations during a recent meeting. Recipients include the Red Cross, Women's Resource Center, Guitars for Vets, Hope House, City Mission, CHOPIN Hall, Open Arms and St. Michael the Archangel Rosary Project. Members raise funds by selling Southland premium dishcloths which are made in the USA and from bake sales at St. Michael the Archangel Church. LCBA, founded in 1890, is a fraternal organization that originally insured woman and children. Currently the organization sells traditional life insurance plans for women, men and children, tax deferred annuities and final celebration of life expenses through Hufford Family Funeral Home, Findlay. Amy Miller will share her message, "Lamenting Well: Faith That Cries Out," on Sunday at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church. The service begins at 9 a.m. and includes scripture, music, prayer, a children's message and a meaningful sermon. Communion is offered on the first Sunday of each month and all are welcome to participate. The Caregivers Support Group will meet from 2-3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church. This group offers support and encouragement to anyone caring for a loved one with any type of impairment or diagnosis. South St., will host it's 11th annual Adult Vacation Bible School July 6-10 from 6-8 p.m. Activities include a favorite hymn sing, fellowship and snacks, and a Bible study on Steps of Faith and Trust with group involvement and community enrichment showing how faith and trust were necessary to develop these new promises. All are invited to attend to gain personal insight and have fun. No registration is required. The regular Sunday service is at 8 a.m. and all are welcome. St. Marks UM FINDLAY — St. Marks United Methodist Church, 800 S. Main St., has two worship services each Sunday morning including a traditional service at 9 a.m. and a contemporary service at 10:45. Both services are livestreamed and can be viewed from the church's Facebook page and at StMarksFindlay.org . The Rev. Dan Metzger will present a new sermon series, "Galatians! Freedom in Christ." The first sermon is "Freedom through the Gospel," based on Galatians 1:1-10. The church will also host a Summer Fest from 6-8 p.m. July 18. St. Paul Lutheran, Jenera JENERA — The third Sunday after Pentecost will be observed at the 9 a.m. traditional service and the 11:15 a.m. contemporary service at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 9340 Township Road 32. Sunday school for all ages begins at 10:15. The Rev. Deb Noll will continue the Lutheran Inquiry Class during the Sunday school hour. St. Paul's monthly community outreach meal will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Everyone is invited. Trinity Lutheran FINDLAY - Trinity Lutheran Church, 935 W. Bigelow Ave., invites the public to attend its worship service at 9 a.m. Sunday. If you are unable to join in person, the service is streamed live on Facebook and YouTube. If you do not attend in person but would like to receive communion, drive up to the front entrance at 10 a.m. Remain in your car and the Rev. Will Stenke will bring communion to you. This Sunday, the Men's Class will host a free breakfast from 10-11 a.m. in the Schutt Center. Everyone is invited. Sunday Morning Bible Conversation meets from 10:15-11 a.m. The topic is St. Paul's letter to the Romans. The letter will be explored using thought-provoking questions guided by useful background and cultural information. Pick up breakfast and join the class. On Wednesday, the summer evening worship service is at 7 p.m. Communion will be celebrated. Wine and the Word meets at Gillig's Winery, 1720 Northridge Road, at 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays during the summer. This is an informal conversation to explore some of the teachings of Jesus. No Bible experience is needed. You are welcome to bring a friend and buy a drink, dinner or just enjoy the conversation. Upper Room FINDLAY — Life groups for all ages meet regularly at 9:30 a.m. on Sundays at the Upper Room Church of God. A spirit-filled worship follows at 10:30. This week's message is about how we and the next generation can thrive in our faith with "Pass the Baton of Faith." The church is located at 520 W. Bigelow Ave. Bible studies for men, women, teens and children are held at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays. Anyone interested can join at anytime. West Independence FOSTORIA — John 14:1-6 will be the basis of the Rev. Ben Wallick's message, "The Way Home," during the 9 a.m. Sunday service at West Independence Church. Vacation Bible school attendees will also present a program. Jill Frantz, youth and children's director, will offer the Children's Moments. The worship service is livestreamed on YouTube.
