Mazza Museum to host annual Art Camp

FINDLAY — The University of Findlay's Mazza Museum is hosting its annual Art Camp from July 28 to Aug. 1, for school-aged children. Children will learn about the fascinating world of picture book art with this year's theme, "Fantasy." Young artists will be instructed by Mazza staff and local area teachers to create daily art projects using different techniques and media inspired by original illustrations from picture books. Parents will be invited to attend a reception to honor their young artists at the end of the week. "Our goal is to give the students a sneak peek into the picture book world, focusing on art techniques that will embrace their curiosity and individuality," Amanda Davidson-Johnston, education manager at the Mazza Museum, said in a release from the University of Findlay. "They will try new techniques promoting out-of-the-box thinking by using an array of media." Camp will take place Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a family reception from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The camp costs $175 and is open to children ages four to eight.
