Summer reading programs this week at the library

The Findlay-Hancock County Public Library is offering the following programs the week of June 29 – July 5, 2025: Join us for a week of exciting events and activities as part of our summer reading program. If you love solving puzzles, our art class escape room is perfect for you! Register at findlaylibrary.org/events to take part in the escape room on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Younger Room. Search the art classroom, solve the clues, and escape before time runs! This escape room was designed with puzzles for grades 2-8, and all children must be accompanied by a caretaker. Older family members are welcome to sign up too, but it is not recommended for children under grade 2. Monday from 2 – 4 p.m. in our Children's Programming Room, families can drop in to play and learn together. Join us for a Reading Games Get-Together to practice reading skills with your beginning reader. The library has a collection of games that work on early literacy skills like letter names, letters shapes and sounds. At 12 p.m. on Tuesday in the Lindamood Room you are invited to a lunchtime adventure around the world with Passport Picnic! Each session, international residents from Findlay will whisk you away to a different country through engaging 30-40-minute presentations. This month will be talking about Japan. As you enjoy your lunch, (please bring your own lunch) you'll delve into the rich tapestry of various cultures, religions, education systems, foods, entertainment, daily lives, and even pick up some basic language skills. At 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Makerspace is scheduled for the Lindamood Room. This week will be making crafts with beads, like bracelets, Perler Bead projects, and more. This program is designed for kids 17 and under. Children 8 and under are required to have a caregiver. Teens get a chance to be creative this week making colorful buttons and sea glass suncatchers on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Lindamood Room. Bring a friend and make a beautiful suncatcher together. Please register at findlaylibrary.org/events. Do you have a work in progress sitting around waiting to be finished? Do you just need to set time aside to work on a craft and spend time with other crafty adults? Join the library for our monthly craft circle where all crafts are welcome! We'll get together on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Administration Office. Mini Meet-Up is scheduled for Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the Early Learning Center in the Children's Department. Little ones can explore new games, toys and activities that are educational and fun while socializing and making new friends. This program is for our smallest learners, up to 36 months. Creative writers - if you're tired of writing alone, come write with other adults! Bring your own work-in-progress or start fresh with one of our prompts. Meet at Coffee Amici in downtown Findlay on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Younger Room teens are invited to mixed media mayhem. Dive into creative chaos using library materials, recycled items, and more to make unique masterpieces. At 3:15 p.m., we'll switch gears to create a low-lit, quiet environment designed to accommodate all levels of creativity and sensory needs. Crafts are tailored to be sensory-friendly, calming and engaging. This library will be closed on July 4 to celebrate Independence Day.
