2 men arrested after woman found in crawlspace

ARLINGTON — The Hancock County Sheriff's Office responded to the 16000 block of County Road 8 for a report of domestic violence, resulting in the arrest of two men, about 1:21 a.m. Thursday. A release from the Sheriff's Office states deputies encountered two men "who were uncooperative and denied the victim was present." Deputies later determined the victim, along with three children, were being held against their will. Upon searching, after obtaining a search warrant, the victim was located in a crawlspace under the residence. Both men, identified as Jase Lauck and Chase Craig, were arrested and charged. Lauck was charged with domestic violence, kidnapping and obstruction of official business. Craig was charged with obstruction of official business. The Sheriff's Office states in the release it anticipates further charges. Hanco evaluated the victim and three children at the scene, and no further medical treatment was administered. The Hancock County Special Response Team and Hostage Negotiation Team were activated during the incident. The release also states the Sheriff's Office and METRICH Drug Task Force are continuing the investigation.
