Boil advisory lifted for Findlay residents FINDLAY — A boil advisory for residences on Western Avenue and Findlay Street has been lifted. A release from the city's water departments states residents at 102, 104, 108, 112, 118, 119, 120, 121, 122, 124 and 126 Western Avenue and 500, 506, 508, 511, 519, 522, 530, 531, 602, 602, 603, 606, 610, 618, 619, 621, 623, 625 and 629 Findlay Street can now use city water without boiling. Bacteria samples were collected and analyzed and all samples have returned negative, it states. FHS class of '75 gathers for 50-year reunion FINDLAY — The Findlay High School Class of 1975 will gather August 15-17 for its 50th year reunion. Events kickoff Friday at 5:30 p.m. with a mixer at The Moose Lodge, a $5 cash only cover is required. At 5:30 p.m. Saturday, the class will be hosting a "Cash Bar," with pizza, music, and mingling at the Hancock Hotel. To wrap up the weekend, a Garden Party Finale will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday. Classmates can enjoy a relaxed outdoor gathering with celebratory wine. Bonus events include a golf outing at 9:00 a.m. Friday and a tour of the Findlay High Sekoo!, 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Reservation is required by July 15 to lock in discounted room rates at The Hancock Hotel. Additional room blocks and registration deadlines include The Findlay Inn by July 15 and the Holiday Inn Express by July 31. For special dietary needs, notify The Hancock Hotel chef by July 15. Hunting, trapping will be topics of next Second Saturday BLUFFTON — Hunting and trapping will be the theme for the Second Saturday event July 12 at the Schumacher Homestead, 8350 Bixel Road. Hours are 1-4 p.m. The event is organized by the Bluffton-Pandora Swiss Community Historical Society. There will be several displays related to hunting and trapping in this area during the second half of the 19th century. At that time these activities were basic survival skills as settlers depended in part on wild animals for food and clothing. Presenters will include Tom McCullough of rural Pandora, who has been collecting locally made period traps and rifles for 40 years. His display will include items made by Bishop John Moser, a well known gunsmith for the local Swiss Settlement in the late 1800s. Mark Brumbaugh will display animal furs that visitors may handle. A conservationist from rural Rawson, Brumbaugh is known as a living history presenter with his collection of old muzzle loaders and traps. Jeff Hashbarger's collection of old trap baskets and wooden fur stretchers will also be presented. The rural Pandora man continues to trap with his grandsons. As always, visitors at Second Saturdays may tour the Schumacher Homestead including the 1843 house, the garden, summer kitchen and workshop. Admission is $5. SCHS members and those 16 and younger are admitted at no cost.
