Unwind at 3rd annual craft market

FINDLAY — False Chord Brewing is hosting its third annual Summer Craft Market from 2-8 p.m. Saturday in Parking Lot F off of Crawford Street in downtown Findlay, which is connected to the backdoor of its taproom. "The Summer Craft Market is something that we look forward to every year," False Chord Brewing co-owner Eric Wheatley said. "We hope to keep growing it and be able to bring something to Findlay each year." Brewing up more than just draft beer, False Chord organized the market three years ago and it has since grown into a summer tradition. "We were really looking for an avenue to be able to connect with the local community and bring other people's businesses together," Wheatley said. "That's when we decided we would try to start a local craft market and have been grassroots building it up every year." The event features 40 vendors from across Ohio, offering a mix of handmade goods ranging from wood carvings to jewelry to pet accessories. This year, the brewery is partnering with Anchor Sports Management to provide a designated kids area with play zones, pop-up games and putt-putt. A local DJ will also be performing a live set throughout the evening. Another first for the event is food made in-house by False Chord Brewing. The brewery will be providing hot dogs with a variety of toppings, soft drinks and water. A DORA drink station will be serving up craft beer and hard seltzers. Guests can enjoy beverages within DORA limits or inside the taproom. Additional beverages such as THC mocktails and non-alcoholic options will also be available. "We've always handled the beverage options, but not the food portion," Wheatley said. "This year, we will be cooking hotdogs for everybody who's interested." Booths are curated to ensure there is no significant overlap of vendors and that a diverse selection of items are made available to the public, Wheatley said. This year, roughly 25% are returning vendors from last year. "There's a lot of different, unique things that are available and they're not competing with each other as well," he said. Wheatley hopes the Summer Craft Market is one of many downtown festivities people will attend this summer. "It's a great opportunity to walk around downtown and visit other businesses while enjoying the good weather and each other's company," he said.
