Arlington youth seriously injured in ATV v. car crash

MT. BLANCHARD — At approximately 3:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon, the Hancock County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash on County Road 17 and Township Road 150 in Delaware Township involving a 2012 Chevrolet Impala, driven by Cori Stansberry, 36, of Kenton, and an ATV, driven by a 13-year-old from rural Arlington. According to a Sheriff's Office release, preliminary investigation showed the ATV failed to stop at a posted stop sign, entering the path of the vehicle and resulting in the collision. The juvenile was airlifted from the scene to St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo with serious injuries. The medical center would not release any further information Monday about the youth's condition. The release later said following the crash, someone reported a man fled the scene on foot, but an update determined this information was false. "It was determined that no male occupant fled the scene of the crash as this was reported through a falsified witness statement," the release states. Stansberry was issued a traffic citation of driving under suspension and driving without a seatbelt and is currently being held at the Multi-County Correctional Center in Marion on an unrelated arrest warrant, with further criminal charges pending.
