Lynch's 3-run blast sends Scouts over Sluggers

XENIA – The Xenia Scouts rallied for three runs in the seventh inning, and held on to win a suspended game, 5-3, over the Flag City Sluggers Sunday.A seven-inning game was to follow Sunday, but that game finished too late for today's edition.Flag City scored three runs in the fifth inning, and led 3-2 going to the top of the seventh inning.The Scouts (the designated road team in the first game) went ahead when Troy Lynch slugged a three run homer off Flag City reliever Hayden Gilmore.Flag City fell to 17-19. The Scouts, who are in first place in the GLSCL's South Division, improved to 24-14.Gilmore began the game as the Sluggers' designated hitter, and connected on a single, a double and drove in a run. Brett Reed, Will Rafferty and Harrison Enskov – Flag City's 1, 2 and 3 hitters – each had two hits in the loss. LEGION BASEBALL OTTAWA – Ottawa's Post 63 Legion baseball team overcame 3-0 and 7-6 deficits to earn an 11-8 win over Pemberville Post 183 on Saturday and captured the club's first District 1 regional championship in 36 years.Ottawa (21-11) advances to the American Legion senior division state tournament and will face Harrison Post 199 on Friday at Beavers Field in Lancaster. As regional runner-up, Pemberville will also travel to Lancaster for a play-in game against Chillicothe, also on Friday.Case Stegaman's bases-clearing double during a four-run fourth-inning rally helped Ottawa turn a 3-2 deficit into a 6-3 lead. After Pemberville regained the lead with four runs in the top of the fifth inning, Stegaman tripled leading off the last of the sixth and scored the game-tying run. Four more runs in the inning gave Ottawa an 11-7 cushion.
