Hancock jobless rate rose

FINDLAY — Hancock County's unemployment rate rose to 4.8% in June from 4.4% in May, the Ohio Job and Family Services Department reported Tuesday. Putnam County's 3.9% jobless rate was second lowest in the state last month. Jobless rates rose in all but two of Ohio's 88 counties in June. Area unemployment rates in June, with May rates in parentheses, then June 2024, were: • Allen County, 5.2% (4.7%); 5%. • Hancock County, 4.8% (4.4%); 4.3%. • Hardin County, 5.7% (4.9%); 5.1%. • Henry County, 5% (4.6%); 4.5%. • Putnam County, 3.9% (3.6%); 3.6%. • Seneca County, 5.2% (4.8%); 4.5%. • Wood County, 4.8% (4.4%); 4.5%. • Wyandot County, 4.4% (3.8%); 3.6%. The lowest jobless rate in the state last month was in Holmes County, in east-central Ohio, 3.8%. The highest unemployment rate in the state, 7.2%, was in Meigs County, on the West Virginia border. The statewide jobless rate, which is seasonally adjusted, was 4.9% in June, unchanged from May. In June 2024 it was 4.3%. The nationwide unemployment rate, which is seasonally adjusted, declined to 4.1% in June from 4.2% in May. In June 2024 it was 4.1%.
