4 in custody after theft-turned pursuit

FINDLAY — Four suspects, including one youth, were taken into custody following a theft-turned-traffic-stop-turned-vehicle pursuit Wednesday evening. A news release from the Findlay Police Department said Jaylen Finch, Jovanna Evans, Devonna Holmes and an unnamed juvenile, all of Saginaw, Michigan, were arrested following the pursuit. Officers were called to Dick's Sporting Goods, 1960 Tiffin Ave., for a theft in progress, the release states. The suspects fled the area with store merchandise before officers could reach the scene. A short time after being given descriptions of the suspects an officer located a vehicle matching the description in the area of County Road 99 and North Main Street. A pursuit was initiated after the vehicle fled following a traffic stop attempt by the officer. The driver of the vehicle committed several traffic infractions including failing to stop at multiple red lights and speed. The pursuit lasted several miles, going onto onto northbound Interstate 75. The driver of the suspect vehicle finally stopped near mile marker 189 where a felony stop was performed and all occupants were detained, questioned and arrested. Police found several thousand dollars' worth of stolen merchandise in the vehicle, the release states. Finch, Evans and Holmes were transported to the Hancock County Justice Center. The juvenile female was taken to Wood County Juvenile Detention Center.
