High School 101 and more this week at the library

The Findlay-Hancock County Public Library is offering the following programs the week of July 27-August 2, 2025: On Tuesday, July 29 beginning at 5 p.m. in the Lindamood Room, upcoming ninth graders can join us for High School 101, led by Mr. Don Williams, Assistant Principal at Findlay High School. Mr. Williams will talk about what to expect and how to prepare for high school. The Family Resource Center will also be on hand to lead us through local programs, activities and resources to help support your high school journey. The second part of the program will be led by Officer White from the Findlay Police Department. Officer White will talk about bike safety and your best route to school. A representative from Further Bikes will join in for this portion of the presentation to share biking and maintenance tips. On Wednesday, July 30 at 5:30 p.m. in the Lindamood Room, come craft during our CrafterWork program. Adults and teens 16+ are welcome. This month, we'll create a plant canvas embroidery. Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Lindamood Room teens are invited to show off their music knowledge to win awesome prizes & bragging rights at our Name that Tune program. A portion of a song will be played, and participants will have to guess what the song is. Whether you're a fan of classic rock, pop hits, or the latest chart toppers, this event promises a fun-filled atmosphere for all music enthusiasts. Gather your friends and make your plans now for this fast-paced fun! On Thursday at 2 p.m., you're invited to a virtual discussion with neurologist and author Pria Anand to chat about her new book The Mind Electric: A Neurologist on the Strangeness and Wonder of Our Brains. This program is presented in partnership with the Marathon Center for the Performing Arts. Thursday at 6 p.m., Drawing Club is scheduled to take place at Litzenberg Memorial Woods at 6100 U.S. 224. Meet at the shelter then go on a short hike to search for different plants and materials that can be used to create natural inks, dyes, and paints. Afterwards participants can draw a picture using black walnut ink with feather quills and paint brushes. This program is recommended for children in grades 2 and up. Registration is required for the children attending at findlaylibrary.org/events by clicking on the program for the form. Guardians do not need to register. If you're looking to give your school supplies a new life, or need something for the new school year, join us for a free School Supply Swap - where students can donate or pick up gently-used or new school supplies. No donation is required to participate. All students in grades 6–12 are welcome to attend and pick up supplies as needed. Early donations will be accepted from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. from July 28 - 31 in the Youth Services Department.
