LGBTQ+ Spectrum of Findlay ending operations

FINDLAY — In December 2024, LGBTQ+ Spectrum in Findlay announced it was winding down its operations. Now, an update to the Spectrum of Findlay Facebook page announced it will be officially closing. "After years of working together to create a safe and affirming space for the LGBTQ+ community in Findlay, we have an important update to share," the announcement reads. "Spectrum of Findlay is officially concluding its operations. "This isn't goodbye, just see you around," said a post from the organization accompanying the release. LGBTQ+ Spectrum had been a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a more inclusive and welcoming community in Findlay. Building on their momentum, Kaleidoscope Youth Center is expanding upon the vision of LGBTQ+ Spectrum, while partnering with the community to ensure a smooth transition, the announcement reads. KYC is currently based out of Columbus and has been around since 1994. According to its website, it is the "largest and longest-standing organization in Ohio solely dedicated to serving and supporting LGBTQIA+ youth." Services that will be offered in Findlay include community education and training, advocacy, civic engagement, health and wellness programs, and housing opportunities. "This is not a goodbye to the community, it's a transition," the update later states. "Even though the Spectrum organization has sunset its operations, all of us at Spectrum … are still committed to supporting our community going forward."
