Arcadia UM ARCADIA — Sunday school at Arcadia United Methodist Church starts at 9 a.m., followed by worship at 10. The Rev. Gerry Hubbs will continue her series on "James: Faith and Works." The church is preparing for its Fall Bazaar and will be making noodles and apple dumplings over the next several weeks. Apple dumplings will be available to purchase with either two or four dumplings in a pan. These may be preordered at the Arcadia Superette or by calling the church and leaving a name and call back number. Items will also be available at the bazaar's bake sale table. The church is located at 19397 County Road 216 and is handicapped accessible. College First FINDLAY — The sermon message for services at 9, 10 and 11 a.m. Sunday at College First Church of God is "Love. Equip. Send." The scripture reading is Ephesians 4:11-13. Church members will be serving Dietsch's ice cream again in the Merchant's Building at the Hancock County Fair, Tuesday through Sept. 1. A Senior Fun Dinner is planned at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 9. Those attending are asked to bring a hot dish, salad or dessert to share. The main course, drink and table service will be provided. First Lutheran FINDLAY — First Lutheran Church welcomes all to attend an outdoors worship service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the bandshell in Riverside Park. The service is being hosted by the three Findlay Lutheran churches - First Lutheran, St. John's Lutheran and Trinity Lutheran. The event will include music, food and fellowship. First Presbyterian FINDLAY — First Presbyterian Church, 2330 S. Main St., will worship on the church lawn at 10 a.m. Sunday. The Rev. Jessica Commeret will be guest preaching. Backpacks will be blessed for those who are beginning the new school year. The service will not be livestreamed. Childcare for infants and toddlers begins at 9:45 a.m. All are welcome. Gilboa UM GILBOA — Gilboa United Methodist Church will hold its second annual pork chop dinner from 5-7 p.m. Sept. 13. Meals include pork chops, scalloped potatoes, green beans, roll and a cookie. The cost is $12 per meal at the door or in advance. Both dine-in and carryout options will be available. Tickets can be obtained from any church member or by calling 419-733-0505. Good Hope Lutheran, Arlington ARLINGTON — Good Hope Lutheran Church welcomes everyone to attend one of three services held each weekend including 5 p.m. on Saturdays with Pam McCloud serving as organist, and at 7:30 and 10 a.m. on Sundays with Montgomery Moore as pianist/organist. His special selections Sunday will be "Brethren, We Have Met in Worship" for the prelude and "As the Deer" for special music. The offertory will feature "Christ is the World's Redeemer." On this 11th Sunday after Pentecost, the Rev. Steven Ramsey's message will be "A Tale of Two Healings" with scripture readings from Isaiah 58:9-14, Psalm 103:1-8, Hebrews 12:18-29 and Luke 13:10-17. Bible study and Sunday school are held each week beginning at 9 a.m. with fellowship and refreshments available prior to class. Sessions are held for everyone from nursery to adults. Sunday School Rally Day will be held Sept. 7. There will be crafts, refreshments and fellowship with the beginning of new classes. The Good Hope food pantry will be available on Thursday for anyone who desires a box of food and household products. A call to the church office prior to Thursday is necessary in order to reserve a pickup time. All are welcome. Members of the congregation are encouraged to donate spaghetti and pasta sauce during August for this outreach program. Items are also needed for the LWR baby kits being assembled in August. Sept. 2 is the starting date for the Shining Stars Christian Preschool and Daycare. Grace Brethren FINDLAY — "Faith, Obedience & Prayer" is the topic for the 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday at Findlay Grace Brethren Church, 209 Lexington Ave. The congregation will be studying Matthew 17:14-23. Coffee and doughnuts will be served prior to the service, while pizza and fellowship will be available afterwards. The church will offer a nine-week Dave Ramsey Financial Peace Seminar starting Sept. 12. Sessions will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the church. Call 419-889-9710 for more information. Redeemer Lutheran FINDLAY — Larry Schaller served as the substitute pastor at Redeemer Lutheran Church last Sunday. He followed the service guidelines for Pentecost "10" as he explored the sermon title of "Love and Faith." Sunday school has resumed watching the film, "The Chosen." Amy Miller will share her message, "Growing Pains," on Sunday at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church. Worship service begins at 9 a.m. and includes scripture, music, prayer, a children's message and a meaningful sermon. Communion is offered on the first Sunday of each month, and all are welcome to participate. Highlights of the ministries at St. Andrew's will also be shared. St. Marks UM FINDLAY — St. Marks United Methodist Church, 800 S. Main St., has been examining the sermon series, "In the Garden." Attendees will explore how many of the Bible's most meaningful moments happen in gardens — places of creation, prayer, surrender, resurrection and new beginnings. This week the congregation will focus on Genesis 3:17-19 and John 19:41-42. The Little Lions Playschool opens in the DOCK this fall. Wednesday is the last morning this season to donate extra vegetables to Howard United Methodist Church. St. Paul Lutheran, Jenera JENERA — The 11th Sunday after Pentecost will be observed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 9340 Township Road 32, during both the 9 a.m. traditional service and the 11:15 a.m. contemporary service. The Rev. Deb Noll will lead both services. Sunday school for all ages begins at 10:15. Salem New Beginnings FINDLAY — Mark Ruggles will be the guest speaker for the Aug. 31 worship service at Salem New Beginnings Church, 4699 County Road 236. His Back to School themed message will be "The Three Most Important Questions in Life." The service begins at 9:30 a.m. Trinity Episcopal FINDLAY — Trinity Episcopal Church will host a special "End of Summer Bash" following the 10 a.m. service Sunday. Hot dogs, sloppy joes and root beer floats will be provided, and all are welcome. All baptized Christians may receive Holy Communion, and all people are welcome to attend the Findlay church, 128 W. Hardin St. A simple spoken liturgy is celebrated at 8:30 a.m. while a sung Mass with hymns is at 10. Bigelow Ave., will join First Lutheran and St. John's Lutheran churches at Riverside Park for worship at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Lunch will follow at the Waterfall Pavilion. Upper Room FINDLAY — Upper Room Church of God will hold a worship service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. The church is beginning a new series, "What's In It For Me?" This week's message is "Jesus Is In It For Me." The church is located at 520 W. Bigelow Ave. Life groups for all ages meet regularly at 9:30 a.m., followed by spirit-filled worship at 10:30. Bible studies for men, women, teens and children are held at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays. Anyone interested can join at anytime. West Independence FOSTORIA — 1 Corinthians 10:1-13 will be read preceding the Rev. Ben Wallick's message, "Spiritual Battles – Lust," on Sunday at West Independence Church. Congregational hymns and prayer are also part of the worship experience which begins at 9 a.m. and is also livestreamed on YouTube. A nursery is available during worship. Attendees are welcome to come for coffee fellowship in the Family Life Center before Sunday school classes begin. Classes run from 10:15-11:15 a.m. and are held for all ages covering a variety of topics. A grief study using the book, "Glorified Through Grief," will be held at 7 p.m. Anyone experiencing any type of grief is welcome to attend. A prayer meeting will be held at 10 a.m. Monday.
