Town halls over photo ops I read where our Sen. Husted visited the photo-op ice cream shop in Findlay while on his recess. I also read about how devoted and his "true dedication" to understanding the challenges in rural health systems locally. This visit occurred on the same day Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services RFK Jr. gutted $500 million in funding for vaccine projects without any transparency or scientific evidence that this was necessary. Experts are stating this is a "huge strategic failure" which can weaken America's response to any future pandemics. Senators Husted and Moreno voted for the One Big Beautiful Bill, creating the deepest cuts to Medicare and Medicaid. According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, this law will create 440,000 more uninsured Ohioans. Do you think Blanchard Valley's Emergency Department will get any better? Ohio stands to lose over $37 billion in Medicaid funding over the next 10 years. Will our state budget pick that up? Where will the uninsured people go? Who will fill the vacancies when this sick workforce cannot work? Reduction to mental health services could lead to more homelessness and crime. I'm sorry, but a bill that gives $1 trillion in tax cuts to the richest, while growing the deficit by $3.4 trillion should be making local and state leaders start making huge plans for the upcoming recession instead of praising senators who are complicit to this immoral mess our country is in. Instead of voice recorded messages, fish-fry photo-ops and young interns with blanket statements, constituents want accountability from our elected officials.
